Adam Cooney was pretty good, though if you reckon Stringer's not quite fit enough to play spare a thought for Cooney's fitness in 2004!
Not sure if I can split the two.
Cooney and Griffen aren't too far behind for sure, but there's something extra special about Stringer, and I think it probably comes back to the "a good tall is better than a good mid" argument.
I really think he has the ability to be one of the game's best. Big call/wrap I know, but I'm very confident in his ability both physically and mentally.

I put Cooney ahead of Griffen. Such a bloody shame he couldn't get the most out of himself after 2008.
Agree that Stringer has something special about him, that's probably more apparent immediately than what it was for Cooney.
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.
I could be wrong but if it wasn't for his horrific injury, chances are he would have been selected by GWS as a 17 year old.
More than likely. His injury is a real story of making the best of a bad situation - a kid who was such a natural and known to have tickets on himself suddenly had to work just to get out there, I think he has learnt a lot from that and it has made him hungrier for success
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.
After his 2nd (?) long goal on the weekend, proceeded with the run past and bump on a cats opponent, with the expression of "didn't see you there, but how good am I?"
Even running the ball out of bounds in the 2st quarter, he pushed a Geelong player out of the way. Just has a physical presence that will be massive for us after a pre-season or two to get his cardio up

I don't reckon Cooney had an impact in his first year. He was always on the outside of contests as an observer and didn't get possession much.
Stringers start does remind me of Chris Grants coming out, also Kelvin Templeton's and of course Shane Loveless.
Not only is he a talent but he is an ENZYME. I reckon there's a chance that Liam Jones played his arse off v Geelong because of Stringer and Stringer will lift not only WOOFERS, as he clearly has, but most of our youngsters and oldies, the team, the club, the sponsors.
He didn't, though his talent was evident and since that point he proved to be one of the most talented players to play for the club (in the years I've been following it).

Reminded me of Carey.
Yes. I've somewhat lost rational thought.
I was calling him carey junior at the game to my mate. A tad tongue in cheek but there is something similar about him.
