    Strings of Draft Picks

I was looking the other day at pick 6 in 2012, with which we have secured Jackson Macrae. This was a compensation pick for losing Callan Ward. We drafted Callan Ward in 2007 with pick 19, the pick which we got from Richmond in exchange for Jordan McMahon. McMahon was drafted with pick 10 in 2000.

So essentially, we traded pick 10 in 2000 for pick 6 in 2012, plus 174 games of service (114 games from McMahon and 60 from Ward).

What are some other long strings of trades you can think of?

Was thinking exactly this when I started reading this thread...this string will be hard to top.

                  Was also in that trade.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Yep, I was pretty pissed about it for a while. Reckon it destroyed the fabric of our playing group for a while too.

Yep, I hope it never happens again. There is some solace to take from Monty having returned as a player and then a coach and Leon as a coach, but for mine you just can't rip players away from the Club like that.

I wasn't surprised when Nathan Brown left to Richmond, doing what we did makes it easy for players to leave guilt-free.

Trading Martin, Monty, Cameron and Powell netted us a bunch of mid range draft picks and Nathan Eagleton. You can't then say that it was the catalyst for our success in the '99 draft - we simply drafted well.

If we reated that particular draft particularly highly, then maximising selection in that draft must surely be regarded as a successful strategy.

We clearly don't rate the 2013 draft very highly, hence we will have only 3 (perhaps only 2) live selections this year.

Fair enough but if we'd just done 'okay' with those selections in '99 people would be viewing the trades with disgust, instead we drafted incredibly well and generally people accept it. You don't usually draft a Daniel Giansiracusa with #32 or Ryan Hargrave with #66, even in '99.
