I would have liked to have done History, but I also had a choice between that and Economics. I'm happy with my subjects, I hate science and am hopeless at art, so there weren't too many that appealed to me.

I did history too, great subject also.

My year 12 was Economics, Accounting, History, Maths 1 (not sure what you crazy kids call it nowadays, but pure maths), and Biology.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

That was the answer I gave when I was at school in 1978.

I got an 'A' for it.

You shouldnt have. Carmen Lawrence became premier about 10 years after Dunstan retired. Their careers were never parrarrel.

And economics over history? Cough, splutter! Economics is as dull as watching St Kilda and the the Swans play footy. Go with history every time.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

            Economics is grouse.

Typical Labor voter, underestimating economics again.

Ohh, no wonder I'd never heard of any!

Maths Methods is the middle maths one, General is the easiest and Specialist/Advanced is the hardest one, you do that as well as Methods if you do it, and it gets marked up something like 20+/50 because it's so hard.

My economics class is quite small, 9 people, same with Politics, and there are only 2 girls in eco, apparently it's more popular with guys...oh well.

Surely that's a good thing? Or are you saving yourself for Dale?

I don't mind it, but I don't like them in...that way. And no, I'm not saving myself for Dale...anymore

Grouse are ducks. Economics is for quacks.

History's full of lunatics and demented people hacking each other to death over whose imaginary friend is more benevolent. How can you top that with a GDP?

Well when society needs more historians i might consider it. Untill then there isn't really a point in real life.

If you ever need a hand with economics, let me know. Aced it in high school and in 1st year at uni.

Society needs more Milton Friedman acolytes?

There may be more places for economists in our society, that's not to say we need them.

Thanks Nick, we're doing the 4 main types at the moment which apparently we need for everything- Labour, Entrepreneurial skills, Capital and Land resources I think, and macro and microeconomics. At school we can get the Age really cheap when we do a subject that might need it so I'm getting it every school day for the year for $10...I can see myself using it mostly for the sports section, but it might come in handy.

Trust me, the Age comes in far more handy for studying economics than the Herald-Sun. I respect Terry McCrann but he's the only decent business reporter they've got. The Age actually makes people think. That's why the Herald-Sun is more popular, you don't need to do any thinking to process it.
