    Development Academy update - 2

    .

Marcus Bontempelli: Marcus hasn’t had a lot of game time so far this season, and that in part is by design as we want to manage him in his debut season. Having said that, what we have seen, we have really liked. Obviously on the weekend he had an outstanding game at VFL level and he’s had a taste at AFL level. The main thing is he’s getting used to his AFL lifestyle, and is training hard day in, day out. Marcus put on a lot of weight and he’s not injured, so that’s really positive for us. And as we saw on the weekend the kid’s going to be a really good player.

Mitch Honeychurch: Mitch is going really well at the moment, particularly for a first year player — his pressure and attack on the football is a feature of his game. Mitch has had a little bit of a run in the midfield recently as well as playing forward and we envisage he will be able to do both in the coming years.

Nathan Hrovat: Nathan had a little bit of an injury interrupted pre-season which he carried into the season, but he’s back running really well and playing a really strong brand of football. He’s another one that isn’t far away from pushing for senior selection. Nathan’s fundamentals are really strong and he’s working extremely hard.

Fletcher Roberts: Fletcher has played a really solid five or six weeks of football in defence where he has consistently executed the basics well and as a result has progressed into the senior side. His composure with the ball has been impressive, and he has improved dramatically in his spoiling. We are seeing a lot of growth in young Fletch, and we look forward to that continuing this season.

Jack Redpath: Jack’s played a lot down back over the past 12 months but we’ve moved him forward recently and he’s starting to get back into that forward play. He’s getting used to his leading patterns and craft again as a forward, which takes a bit of time. Jack’s competing well and we’ve seen him kick three and four goals in a couple of games and we know he’s not far from having a big day. We love his attack on the footy – we just need him to defend as well as he attacks.

Clay Smith: Clay has had a great return from a knee — his form has been quite remarkable considering his long layoff. Credit to him with his rehab and for getting back as quickly as he did. We don’t think it will be too long before we see Clay play senior football.
    FFC: Established 1883

    Premierships: AFL 1954, 2016 VFA - 1898,99,1900, 1908, 1913, 1919-20, 1923-24, VFL: 2014, 2016 . Champions of Victoria 1924. AFLW - 2018.

Interesting there is no mention of Talia. Would've thought an update on his development might've been appropriate.
