No. This is the sort of message an organisation deliberately leaks.

We have arranged a meeting with Mr. Barrett here today to explain his recent reports. You will no doubt read about these in the mass media this afternoon, but please rest assured, our Club will challenge and tackle those who falsely slander our values and integrity. We look forward to his explanation and retraction. Go Dogs, where real strength lives.

Barrett talked about the meeting on the Sunday Footy Show yesterday, it's no secret.

Members should have been emailed about Barrett going down to HQ for an interview. It should have been advised to all to come down with a bag of stones and pelt them at Damien on arrival.

Are we expecting more to come of this tonight?

I agree with GS that the approach makes sense and contrasts with whatever the approach we have been using previously. It might not make any immediate difference, but it creates a better platform for us to respond and escalate from for any future instances.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

The talk of internal divisions owing to poor form is probably normal, given we were premiers not long ago, but saying players have been on the trade table when they have not been is annoying.

I think anyone who works in communications or public relations would say this strategy, especially a public announcement of it, is ill-advised and will only confirm Barrett’s sense of his self-importance.

Hard to disagree with this. No 'advice' from us is going to alter his modus operandi, we're effectively just feeding the fackwit.

Perhaps the club's concerned the flood of crap press is impacting membership takeup and/or our sponsorship relationships. After playing hardball for so long it's hard to fathom why we'd change tack in this way.

All I can pray for is that the meeting was held in a public toilet.

I was more referring to the apparent consistency of this Redwb and his comments on BF. If he is consistently accurate and sharing information, isn't that the exact act of leaking that was being condemned 30 posts ago?

Re: Damien Barrett what's his agenda ?

Part of human psychology is to dehumanize others in order to make it easier to beat them up.
We all do this; 'they' are the handbaggers, cheats, dopers, AFL plastics, cardboard kings etc etc.
To others we are the 'poor' club that has been given everything by the AFL. We throw the ball instead of hand-pass, the club everyone feels sorry for etc etc.

You can't change some people's point of view. They don't want it changed. Barret is a North supporter and maybe that's just the way it's going to be. Evidence of this; we won the 2016 in a way that embodies fighting spirit and hope. It was as Bevo puts it, a celebration of the human spirit. People were crying.

Caroline Wilson, Damien Barrett, Lyon etc were all very quiet during this period. You'd have to be dead in the chest not to feel something about our win. Yet, not many moving words from these so called sports-loving scribes.

North, Melbourne, and St Kilda should be thanking us. We were a rabble in 2014. We lost our captain and coach, so many things going wrong, with a huge monkey on our back having not won a flag for so long. And two years later we lifted the cup. That shows what can be done to clubs around our membership mark.

Peter might be being a bit glib with the 'haters gonna hate' thing but I think the sentiment is correct. Power to Peter for getting on the front foot with crap Melbourne media.

Wilson in particular after some glib words of congratulation that she read a bit like she had been forced to write them was pretty much mute on the Grand Final.

And spotty Barrett wouldn't be the first North supporting journo to give us a hard time. They have always hated us.

You do know that Barrett and Brad Scott also don’t get along at all? It is almost at Bevo proportions.
