Luke Beveridge appointed VU adjunct professor

    Guys,

Haven't seen this posted on our beloved WOOF. Please delete if this is a double up.

Award-winning coach Luke Beveridge appointed VU adjunct professor

Victoria University is delighted to appoint 2016 premiership-winning Western Bulldogs AFL coach Luke Beveridge as an adjunct professor.

Luke will be involved in a number of activities related to the University's sport science, coaching, and management courses.

After leading his team to their first Grand Final victory in more than 60 years, he was named coach of the year by the AFL Coaches Association for the second year running.

VU College of Sport & Exercise Science Dean Hans Westerbeek said Luke's many contributions to sport and beyond will be invaluable to the University's students and staff.

"There is no better way for students to engage in their chosen professions than by working with people at the top of their game such as Luke.

The many perspectives on leadership and managing teams that Luke can bring to the table will also offer staff – teachers and researchers – the opportunity to develop their own approaches to being leaders."

Luke was last year named a VU Companion of the University for exemplifying the best of sport through his leadership, deeds and words. He said he looked forward to working alongside VU staff and students, and strengthening the Bulldog's relationship with the University.

"The Club and Victoria University have a strong and healthy partnership, and I'm honoured to be able to continue to develop that with this appointment," he said.

Professor Westerbeek said VU is proud to count among its adjunct professors the coach and manager who brought premiership-pride back to Melbourne's West.

"Australian Rules Football became so much more than a game on that Grand Final day in 2016," he said. "Luke surprised and delighted the rest of Australia with a brand of football and team spirit that captured the hearts of millions."

You've gotta do something about that sleep posting KT. It probably stems back to a trauma in your childhood when your evil stepmother stopped you using the Internet or something else.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I don't think we need to close it choc. This thread is specifically about Bevo getting his award. The other thread is just about Bevo generally and has a post about his adjuncting.

Great article choc. Bevo is a great one. Bevo I see on future future years will be a great motivational speaker. Would be great in motivating VCE students getting through the year.

Does anyone else ever have a sneaking suspicion that surely Bevo has a skeleton in his closest, like he must be some sort of criminal mastermind?

As an outsider, I haven't heard one negative rumbling about him as a person or in a professional capacity. He's had extraordinary success as a leader wherever he's gone, his family life seems in check, has exemplary communication skills & cultivates relationships with the media, and now he's gone and become an adjunct professor.

Seriously, if it ever comes out that he has any negative traits, it'll be like shooting Bambi's mum.

I've heard from my best friend's cousin's next door neighbour's dog that he crosses the road against a red light. Occasionally. When there's no oncoming traffic. Couldn't believe it myself.
Wake me up when we get to heaven, let me sleep if we're going to hell

Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath

And we all found heaven - 2016 Premiers!
