The Club and Mars Wrigley are pleased to announce a three-year partnership extension.

    By Western Bulldogs Media

The Western Bulldogs and Mars Wrigley are pleased to announce a three-year partnership extension, which will see Ballarat’s showpiece AFL, sporting and events venue continue to be known as Mars Stadium until at least the end of 2027.

Over the next three years, the Bulldogs and Mars Wrigley will offer bespoke match-day and inner sanctum experiences and initiatives for members of the Ballarat community, while an increased investment will see local community heroes and sporting clubs around the region thrive through a range of new initiatives; the first to be revealed in the coming weeks.

This latest partnership renewal between the Western Bulldogs, City of Ballarat and Mars Wrigley will mark 10 years of an ongoing commitment towards giving back and helping grow the Ballarat sporting and events community.

“Since 2017, Mars Stadium has become our second home for our AFL and AFLW teams, so this extended partnership with Mars Wrigley and the City of Ballarat will see us continue to strengthen our connection within the region,” Bulldogs Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, Kon Karavias, said.

“The atmosphere at all three of our Mars Stadium games last year was really special. Ballarat is now our third largest postcode of members, and we are excited to continue delivering amazing experiences for our members, fans and the wider Ballarat community across the next three years."

“It’s an honour to sponsor such an iconic and important part of the local Ballarat community, as well as deepen our association with the Western Bulldogs,” said Xavier Shortal – Sales Director, Mars Wrigley Australia.

“This sponsorship signifies Mars Wrigley’s commitment to the great city of Ballarat, which has been an important part of our history for more than 40 years, producing our iconic confectionary brands including Mars, Snickers, Maltesers, M&M’s and Pods,” added Mr Shortal.

“We’re thrilled to be using this sponsorship to give back to the local community, including launching a number of new community initiatives that we’ll proudly be working to deliver alongside the Western Bulldogs.”

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves also expressed her delight with the partnership renewal.

“Together with the Western Bulldogs, we share the excitement that Mars Wrigley has extended its agreement as naming rights partner of Mars Stadium for a further three years,” she said.

“Mars Stadium is now well and truly associated across the country with AFL football in Ballarat and this agreement will only strengthen our reputation as the sporting capital of regional Victoria.”

The Bulldogs will host Port Adelaide (Round 8) and Adelaide (Round 18) at Mars Stadium this year, making it 15 AFL games at the venue since the first match played for premiership points in 2017.

The AFLW Bulldogs have also hosted five games at Mars Stadium across four seasons.

I can understand that for sure. Great view from grandstand seat I had for 2 or 3 seasons. Good atmosphere too. Probably best view of any stadium I’ve sat in. However including travel time (v line) time commitment was a whole day including evening, just too much. Straw that broke camel’s back was issue I had with Ballarat member pricing (club knows of my complaint) turned me off continuing it. Money I save pays all or most of kayo membership.

Happy for club to make money from deal and happy for doggies fans who live near or in Ballarat though. I’ll be watching from comfort of my lounge.

Let’s hope none of our players suffer a hammy or similar there. I’m guessing cold conditions have contributed to a number we’ve had down there and guessing it’s a slightly higher rate of these types of injuries compared to marvel. May not be statistically significant though & happy to be wrong.

Yeah I loved getting soaking wet, having my daughter complain constantly for the rest of the day about being wet and the dickhead Essendon supporter behind me that said "F### the Bulldogs" and only doubled down when I challenged him with kids around everywhere.

Give me Ballarat any day where I can book an undercover seat.

What a flog. That's poor form.

Fair enough. I'm Whitten every day. Loved it.

It's a good deal for us but it comes with some angst for our supporters and is seen as an erosion of our membership
I like going there and so does the family but it is a substantial commitment from a time perspective.

The next two years Ballarat will be effected by construction work, which will also limit the capacity during those games. Not sure why we didn't move the games till construction was over.

The club would have known about this long before members committed to their Ballarat memberships but of course advised us all now with the expectation we work around the constraints imposed.
This won't be a popular opinion but at times they do take their members for granted.

                    Wtaf....!

So as part of them taking away two home games from my coterie package, and replacing them with GA at Windy Hell, now, with not a peep of comms, they are pretty much unable to fulfill their obligations.

                    Hard to believe.

The decision to not share with new and ongoing members that the venue was going through a major revamp that would change the capacity significantly is really poor on the clubs behalf.
Had members known early enough they could made an informed decision on what their membership would be.
The fact that they have waited until a few rounds into the season before making the announcement is at best disingenuous bordering on manipulative.
They should be working overtime with the AFL to move at least one of the games back into Marvel but their deal with the City of Ballarat is the clear priority and won't jeopardized so the members will have to roll with it.

Extremely poor lack of leadership from the club. I go to at least one Ballarat game every year and stand on the far wing (reminds me of when I used to run around on the ground against those north Ballarat ****heads). Will be a shame to miss out this year as the limited seats will go to priority members first.

I’ve shared this elsewhere that I gave up the Ballarat games part of my membership last year as I felt club were taking me for granted (effectively charging me for Ballarat GA when I already had allocated seat and it was only when I raised it they offered a price reduction). Glad I opted out back then. Money I saved effectively pays for most of kayo.

Poor treatment of loyal fans (who from day dot lost two home games at Marvel when Ballarat membership commenced).

The club knew that the stadium was being upgraded and yet knowingly kept that information from members.
My family has enjoyed going to Ballarat each year and standing in the outer but that's not really an option now.
Why oh why would the club be happy enough to have not 1 but 2 games in front of less members than the Whitten Oval can accommodate?
The answer of course is money. Profits over People isn't sustainable.
