    Croft to debut against Eagles

    image.png
The Western Bulldogs will unleash their fifth AFL debutant of the 2025 season when Jordan Croft takes to the field on Sunday afternoon.

The father-son prospect has been named to face West Coast following a strong run of performances in the VFL, including a three-goal display against the ladder-leading Box Hill Hawks last Saturday.

“It caught me off guard a little bit – I was just doing a bit of skills off the track with Jaquesy (Lachie Jaques) and JOD (James O’Donnell), and then came together as a group and Reidy (Ben Reid) announced I was playing this week,” Croft said.

“I’m super ecstatic to be playing.

“Being able to get the opportunity now is just super exciting for me and my family. (Dad) was taken aback a little bit.”

Croft was drafted with Pick 15 in the 2023 National Draft. He is the son of Matthew Croft who played 186 games in the red, white and blue, mainly as a key defender.

Great to see. Good luck to the lad.

Let's assume Darcy is playing. Where would we play Croft? Still up forward?

How exciting. This kid will make JUH imminent departure painless.

Expecting him to take Poulters role in the forward half

Yep - has a decent tank and can present to the kicker. Just as long as he stays out of Darcy & Naughton's leading lanes.

That would be the likely change assuming Darcy is OK.

This will fire up the anti-father-son zealots! We should have debuted him against Freo!!

Perfect replacement for Poulter. Flexible as he can play forward, wing, 2nd ruck.

And doesn't take either of them out when he crashes the packs as he is known to do!

Good story, I was thinking of debuting Jaques this week, but totally forgot about Croft who has strung together a couple of good games.

                    Go well SOJH!

At the East West function on Tuesday Matthew Croft mentioned that Jordan's twin (Mitch) is 207cm tall and will be playing Volleyball at the University in Hawaii
Isn't that where Billy Gowers is?

Shame he doesn't play Aussie rules.

Really looking forward to Crofty getting a chance! He's been a bit hobbled so far, by injuries here and there. Lets hope he gets good run at it.. His old man was clearly hobbled by the array of injuries he had all through his career. It's a testament to his resilience and commitment that Matthew was able to forge out a meaningful career.
I've only seen a glimpse or two of Jordan Croft via a practice match this pre-season I thnk, so I don't have any frame of reference as to how he plays; can't wait to see him in the Red,White and Blue on Sunday!

Matthew said that Jordan has endured stress issues for his knee, shins and feet but seems to be on top of that now.
