If ever we were going to hear about the whole Macca break down and talk about depression and totalitarian regimes it was here. Alas, Ryan missed his chance to produce something amazing, and he has missed out again.

It's a nice article really...I personally think all of the Gordon-BMac-Griff stuff has been done to death and am pretty glad Ryan doesn't feel the need to kiss and tell. He made his call - he has more than paid the price if you ask me. His tenure at the Giants was one injury after another and he barely made it on to the park, let alone to the MCG on GF day...and without Boyd in 2016 we don't win.

For one person to be happy (me) someone else has to be sad (Griff). Let's leave it at that.

While plenty of people would like to know his version of the inside story, it could be a destructive thing to publicly release and probably cause a few issues for the footy club and individuals involved.

That is more a story for the sportsmen's night audience, and I don't see Griffen as a person who would do those type of events.

I agree. It happened and the ultimate Karma from it was that Boyd comes to the Doggies and plays a sensational game in the Prelim against Mummy and then doubles down with an almost BOG performance in the Granny......Griff has a dog of a day in yet another prelim and fades to obscurity.

Fair comments. I'm curious and would like to know more as I have mulled over what happened long and hard. Some people let it go some people hold onto it. All good.

I think I let go of the hatred and spite when we played the Giants in 2015. The body language was that of a broken man and you could tell that it really hurt to be booed by us and to play against people that had been his teammates less than a year before. Once it was out of my system and I saw him running around for the Giants, it was just replaced by pity.

I don't know if I'll ever forget how he walked out and I am peeved at the people that act like he gave us Boyd but the feeling is gone.

I was angry at the time, and was for a while afterward.

But if I wanted to erase him from memory, it would mean erasing the confident young man who was an untackleable revelation at half back in his first year.

It would mean erasing the battle he had with Gary Ablett in his first year.

It would mean erasing watching him break Jason Blake's ankles with a shake of his hips in a game in 2008.


It would mean erasing him tearing down the broadcast wing of the MCG in a SF against Sydney to slot a goal that hammered down a momentum we never surrendered.

And I'm not prepared to do that.

Griff just burned GAJ in that play didn't he? I can still see it in my mind's eye. Those one on one contests-you, me and the ball-are the essence of what footy is all about.
