    Pups praise 'tough' Arizona experience

    Pups praise 'tough' Arizona experience

Bulldog Andrejs Everitt was pleased to
learn some new techniques in the gym
    and on the track

YOU ONLY need to look as far as the players to determine if the Western Bulldogs' recent Arizona training experience was of any value.

Two emerging Dogs, Tom Williams and Andrejs Everitt, gave the week-long trip a glowing endorsement when considering the education it provided and the power of work they undertook on the track.

And to further enhance their newfound love of the United States, the players were treated to sporting events in between their lessons.

"I wasn't really sure about what we were going to do, and we got flogged but had a good time in the process," Williams told westernbulldogs.com.au soon after the squad's return.

"It was really beneficial. We did pretty much what we do here, and then we did this sort of explosive stuff that AFL is not really advanced in at the Athletes' Performance facility in Phoenix.

"We learned a lot about explosive stuff and power and were shown a lot of different techniques and different ways of doing things.

"We got a lot more out of it than we expected, so it was really good."

Everitt, though restricted for some sessions because of a minor case of shin splints, saw the benefits too.

"It was a great experience. It was pretty tough for some of the boys, but I was in rehab for my shin so I didn't do as much work even though rehab was pretty tough still," he said.

"We learned a lot of new techniques in the gym and stuff, with all the high performance coaches and stuff like that, so it was really good."

But the range of different sporting events attended encouraged their excitement more than anything else.

"Ice hockey was amazing. I think we should have ice hockey in Australia; I would definitely go and watch it," Williams said.

"There were so many highlights. We went to the football and the basketball and then Vegas … finishing off there was awesome. That place is like Disneyland for adults."

It's true. I went there October as a 16 year old. You're allowed to walk through the Casinos but all the shows and bars are 21+. Nothing to do for kids.

The people in America need to realise they have it before they think about expansion

I have two pups, 11 and 12 who would disagree with you.
          They loved Vegas.

Is it like a big pokies venue and you get to leave the kids in the car outside?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

The way some of the Casino's ceilings are decorated ,with moving clouds and blue skyline, sometimes its hard to tell if you were inside or outside.

I forgot where I was and lit up a smoke inside Caesar's Palace.

Don't be like that. I've botted just as many from TwoDogs over the years as well.
