Danger signs everywhere for not-so-slick Bulldogs

Rohan Connolly - The Age - 5 July

YOU need only a rudimentary grasp of mathematics to work out that the Western Bulldogs' premiership hopes might already be done and dusted two months before the finals begin.

The two-game gap between fourth-placed Fremantle and the Bulldogs, fifth, is not something easily retrieved with only eight games left. Not with Hawthorn, now level on points with the Dogs, coming like a freight train. And particularly not given the roads ahead of the teams involved.

There is justified anxiety about what the loss of Michael Barlow will do to the Dockers. But Freo has one of the friendlier draws of the top-four candidates, with four of its next five games against sides in the bottom eight, and the round-17 clash with the Dogs obviously make or break for the latter.

Deservedly, we are starting to get written off. Maybe just what we need...

Gah, a prod is certainly what we need but may have come at the wrong end of the season though. So it goes. Carn Dogs!

Having lost the last 2 PF's, the most recent in almost heart-braking circumstances I would have hoped that the players wouldn't need a prod or a reminder of what it is like to have a non successful season.

It is a bs article in that respect though. We played as well as we have done all year vs Hawthorn...

            No, no, no, no, no.

Win = everyone's a superstar, we will win the premiership.
Lose = everyone's a soft dud, who didn't try and should be dropped. Can't possibly even make the finals and should start playing kids because we can't be any more shitter.

Not to mention the players who were part of the group that fell to 13th after a semi final the year before.

I myself, is usually pretty sceptical of the Dogs performances but no way am I about to write the season off. Realistically They are probably still the 4th best team currently. The big thing I seem to be drawn to is the dogs percentage. This is showing so far, most losses haven't been much and wins have been convincing. If they aren't loosing by much its not going to take much to make the right things click.

Healy made this exact point on On the Couch. Hawks are apparently a genuine chance at a premiership and the Dogs have no chance. We lost by 3 points.

Must be good for the current top 4 to know they are safe.

If the team placed 5th cannot possibly threaten obviously every team after them are also out of the running.

Logic of Hawthorn as a genuine premiership chance and Dogs no chance is hard to fathom.
If Hawthorn win every game we will still be ahead of them by winning every game.
They only have Geelong, St Kilda, Fremantle and Collingwood to play from the current top 4 and we have Geelong and Fremantle.

Sooner our position than the genuine threat of Hawthorn.

Interesting draw for Collingwood in the last 7 at the G
                          St Kilda
                          Richmond (threatening)
                          Carlton (no certainty)
                          Geelong
                          Essendon
                          Adelaide (threatening)
                          Hawthorn

Pies could easily drop a few.

Top4 is not done and dusted.

Dogs win 7 of 8 and they will be very close
Win the lot and they will be there.

Remember that 8 sides lose most weeks and never do more than 8 win.

Yes it was a great game Friday but really that was not a good performance . The way they butchered forward entries was deplorable, and the lack of concentration with those Hodge and Mitchell goals was unacceptable. Broken tackles was also an issue!
