    Bulldogs recruit keen to shine

Brent Diamond - The Age - 17 May

WESTERN Bulldogs recruit Patrick Veszpremi says renewed confidence has him ready to add some much-needed goalkicking power to the Bulldogs after returning from a broken finger in the VFL last weekend.

Veszpremi, who was traded from Sydney in exchange for Andrejs Everitt last year, was close to making his Bulldogs debut before his injury four weeks ago.

In a team that has lost significant goalkicking power through the departures of Brad Johnson and Nathan Eagleton and the demotion of Mitch Hahn as a rookie, goalkicking at the Bulldogs is at a premium.

    Said all the right things.

Will be interesting to see how the balance of the season pans out for him.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Injuries have hurt us - but we've already had a load of new faces in the team this year, with more to come.

It's a roller coaster at the moment.

Well he needs to show a heap more than he did in the bog at Port Melbourne

What were your main knocks on his game in the bog, Bulldog Joe?

Well he just did not get involved and looked disinterested.

His work rate needs to be a whole lot better.

Veszpremi was a lot better today and whilst he doesn't look fit (I don't think he ever will look fit) his work rate was very good today and he spent a lot of time in the midfield. He also tackled hard.

He was an elite inside midfielder in his TAC Cup days supposedly, did you see much to confirm that?

As a junior I always saw him as a forward who took his turn in the midfield rather than the other war around. At the senior level I doubt he could make it as a midfielder unless his fitness and pace improves. Reads the play OK.
