Western Bulldogs full-back Brian Lake West Coast clash

    Mark Stevens

WESTERN Bulldogs full-back Brian Lake will remain in exile for another week at least.

The Dogs are content with Lake's progress, but he will remain home when the club travels to Perth for Sunday's clash with West Coast.

Lake will play with Williamstown in the VFL after spending last weekend on the training track to lift his fitness.

If Lake gets through, he appears certain to play against Hawthorn in Round 10.

He loomed as a potential addition this week because of West Coast's "land of the giants" forward line, including Josh Kennedy, Jack Darling, Quentin Lynch and either Nic Naitanui or Dean Cox.

But the Dogs' worries have eased as Tom Williams is set to resume from an ankle injury.

Star forward-midfielder Shaun Higgins is also poised to return after missing three matches with groin soreness.

The possibility of full-forward Barry Hall playing is less certain.

While ankle surgery has sidelined him for three matches, he is likely to be named in the team if he gets through training at Whitten Oval on Friday morning before the team flies out.

Happy with all that, but would prefer to leave Baz on ice for another week.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

I think I'll believe it when they actually run on the park. All coaches play Ducks and Drakes with their injury talk

Same, Happy with Higgins and Williams in. Give Jones another week to build on a promising performance and save Baz the travel.

More of a danger game than the tigers IMO.

How do you know that would do anything beneficial?

wouldn't ask Bazza to get on a plane but if he is fit give him a run with Williamstown to get some touch.

Absolutely. Have already had to assure my kids we can still sing the song home, win lose or draw. I'm not saying we'll lose — I think we'll slog out a tough match and come out 3 points up — but it's not going to come easy, unfortunately.

God I hate this mob. Just being here for a few days brings it all back.
