Sounds like Boyd is just demanding selection. After these few weeks of windy, suburban football he is really going to appreciate getting back to AFL stadiums.
With the Eagles key defenders decimated, I wonder if a Boyd/Redpath combo could work next week?
Subiaco is the ground to try it.Comment

Attended the game and it happened a few times .Tom deserved a few frees to make up for the many he hasn't had this year.Comment

Lucky to win that with a couple free kicks in the forward line but the free kicks were 100% there (lucky the umpire actually paid them).
Port were cleaner with the footy but didn't capitalise on their forward 50 entries. However we took our chances. It was a hard fought out game which could've easily gone the other way.
Here's a bit of a run down from how I saw it.
Tom Boyd did what he had to do but it was his size that worried his smaller opponents and they gave away some easy free kicks. I would still like to see him out body his opponent rather than just take a mark because he's just way taller. 5 goals is a fair effort and he was the difference.
I really like the look of Rourke Smith. Every time I have seen him play he has been solid in defence and runs the ball well. He also isn't scared of the rough stuff as well.
Honeychuch was good early but as most weeks he fades out of the game. He needs to build up his tank.
Goodes was the one who really got the team back in it in the last quarter when it was looking like port were going to run away with the win. Just a couple of moments where he stood up and broke a line and moved the ball quickly forward and put the port defenders under the pump. Kicked a important set shot in the last too.
Hrovat was busy and played a pretty good game although his disposal really let's him down. I would say that is the only reason he is not getting a game in the seniors. Otherwise he was trying hard to use his footy smarts to set up play.
Z. Cordy was pretty good down back. For a skinny bloke he is actually quite strong. He always gets his hands free in a tackle. He has great closing speed.
Roughead looked a bit off but worked into the game late. He looked like he had missed a bit of football. I'm not sure if he did enough to break back into the seniors.
Minson I thought looked a bit disinterested. I might be wrong though (probably are). I thought his ruck work was sloppy at times for his standards. I would have like to see him dominate ruck and get more involved around the ground.
I thought Roberts was beaten on the day by Port's full forward. He seemed to get bodied off the ball too easy. He'll need another run in the two's next week I would think.
I didn't notice Dale much apart from a couple shots on goal. When he got the ball he generally used it well. I'm not sure what his stats were but like I said I didn't notice him too much.
Prudden was ok. He is a strong body in close and he loves the contest. I would like to see him get more of the ball.
Hamilton was quiet but you can see he is always thinking. When he gets a bigger body I think he will get more involved. He gets pushed of it a bit easy atm.
Webb was pretty good without being great I thought. Such a clean user of the ball.
McPherson was quiet which is too be expected being so young. He doesn't mind getting in amongst it though. He was on the bottom of a few packs. He had a nice run down the wing at one stage and hit up someone on their own with some nice vision and execution. He is small which is not what we have a shortage of atm.
Ayce Cordy played a pretty good game in defence. He hit the packs hard which is good to see. He almost cost us the game late in the last with a poor handball. Apart from that he played a good defensive game. They've done studies you know, 60% of the time, it works every time!

Re: Footscray Bulldogs v Port Melbourne - Round 18 2015
Wonderful day, glad I went down. Geez those Port supporters are sore losers. Whining about umpiring or AFL players listed then started on premierships. I said we had 11 of them, I hope I was right? Stood amongst them today which made the win even more enjoyable.
Goodes was our best, really steeped up when it was needed. He's all class at this level.
Roberts was disappointing. He'll have to have one or at least 2 weeks at this level. Roughead was a bit better, looked good in the air, read the play pretty well but as ratsmac said looked like a guy who'd missed a few weeks of footy.
Hrovat did some good things. Seemed lively in the 4th when we were on the attack, wasteful at times but that seemed like the theme of the day for a lot of our players. Liked Honeychurch's game as well.
Prudden was disappointing. Got caught with the ball so many times.
Boyd kicked 5 including the sealer. When they had the chance to get the ball in long and deep he had them worried. He wasn't great today but made the most of his chances.
It was a tough day and we're lucky to get away with the 4 points. Port had so much more run than we did and the ball rebounded to easily out of the forward half. We were very big so that explained the lack of pressure coming out of there. Thank you to the weather for holding up. I packed the little car for arctic weather and didn't need it.Comment

Re: Footscray Bulldogs v Port Melbourne - Round 18 2015
Bit harsh on Will suggesting he was disinterested.
He has obviously been told he is down the pecking order and deferred to Roughy a few times, when in past years he would have demanded his prime ruck spot.
However, he was clearly the best at the actual ruck contest and did provide plenty for the smalls when he was on ball.
He also made sure he did not get in Boyd's way in some forward marking contests including protecting Tom once or twice.
Certainly his game is below what we did expect at his best, but I thought he clearly played a team game and was a good contributor.Life is to be Enjoyed not EnduredComment

Goodes was our best for mine. When Port had the running in the second and third he was the one who consistently had a crack.
Will looked disinterested as ratsmac previously commented. At least Ayce had a presence. Not to worried about Fletch as first game back and will be better for the run. Plus he was playing on Lisle who's a very good forward.Comment

I'm not sure on the legalities of upgrading Goodes to the senior list now (i heard that we upgraded Pearce because their was a deadline?) but if he was allowed to play, does anyone see him getting a spot in our AFL finals side?
He was surprisingly good early in the season until his injury, and could add some of the grunt that we occasionally miss. If we are fully attacking a flag this year, as we should be, then I see him potentially getting a game.Comment
