How do we rate our 2015 draft?

To be honest it's wait and see for me.

Well, where's the fun in that?

Shored up our key defensive group nicely, and added a couple of tall utility types which I'm sure Bevo will like.

From a list balance perspective, I'm giving us an A.

I like the fact that we drafted for needs. Great pick ups, particularly Collins and Adams. Like the look of Dunkley as well and Williams is a bolter but with a 56 possie game can certainly play. All in all very satisfied.

Ditto Comrade. A great move by the Club to get those two picks for one too.

Yes fair point comrade I like the fact we addressed areas of need.

Really happy because I wanted the club to roll the dice and go for needs-based choices this time around. And we got two KPB's and two bigger bodied mids.

Before the draft, I liked Collins' profile but thought we were only a slim chance.

I can remember looking up footage and text on Adams and thinking he looked a likely type for what we need.

Dunkley, well if he plays like his dad, we've got a swashbuckling champ on the list and I understand he was ambivalent about going interstate. So, he should be pretty happy.

Williams, now he clearly is a best available pick and, therefore, why not, I say. Low risk, high return at pick 48.

Agree, a 2 for 1 deal. Great strategy.

I'm going a B+ purely because I would have liked a Flynn or Nuyon as a ruck. Ecstatic with Collins, I would have been happy with him at 11 so it's a great result. We had the pick of the mature aged talls and obviously liked Adams the most so really pleased.

Still can't believe we snared Collins,Dunkley and Adams.

Nuyon is still on the board as a rookie selection, along with a couple of other raw rookies we're interested in (Goetz & Galloway).

I'm sure we'll go with at least one ruck in the rookie draft which is fine by me.

Re: How do we rate our 2015 draft?

I'm at a weird age where I'm starting to feel like I'm being eclipsed by younger, more enthusiastic people and am starting to hate everyone 17-21 because of it. As a result, I only learned the first 20 names from the majority of mock drafts, and we got one of them at pick 26, so A+ I guess?

The guys we got are all fantastic sizes, and really seem to be versatile, appropriate footballers. I actually think that the Positionless Football Revolution benefits defenders like Collins and Adams (maybe), whose ability to read play and intercept have something of a premium on them. Plus they don't look like they'll ever be beaten one on one.

I don't know anything about Dunkley but I also don't think that we are as satiated for inside midfielders as others do. How bad *is* his kicking anyway?

Williams seems a classic Dalrymple bolter pick.

Re: How do we rate our 2015 draft?

                        Two things I like:

Collins could be a very good full back = Roughead can play ruck as the club wants.
Adams, Roberts & Hamling as tall second talls/CHB = Zaine Cordy can play the damaging offensive role I think he will be a weapon at.

Thats got to make Bevo happy to know Roughead can play swing man when Bevo wants, and that depending on gam situation Zaine can play tall and dour, or set up and hurt them on the rebound. Rotating a heap of half back flankers around them.

On draft night every pick is a gun, but we have a spine of 190cm players that could be the best for a while in 2 years:

                        Collins
                        Hamling/Roberts/Adams
                        Bonts
                        Stringer
                        T. Boyd

And that assumes we don't get a FA or trade spine player. The players are very good, what they might do for us as an overall list, is potentially excellent.

It's not a bad kick, a comparison might be it's a bit better than Clay Smith's. His kicks tend to float a bit from what I have seen but he is an average kicker not a bad one.

The ball drop isn't as awkward as Clay Smith's but it's similar.

                            Great overhead though.

I was fairly anti-Dunkley prior to tonight, but I've come around. Big, bull midfielders are where the game is heading, especially ones that can run all day and move forward to present an option.

                              Big, big tick for me.

Understand the lack of a project ruckman concern, but Nyuon, Galloway and Goetz are still rookieable.

Would've preferred Mathieson, Hibberd or Bonner over Dunkley (but he's a Dog now, so happy to back him) and know bugger all about Williams, but extremely happy with Adams, Collins. Overall list looks way stronger.
