    Re: Playing list 2016

With our off-season acquisitions a tall key defender like Sam Boyd was never going to get a look in. When I spoke to him this time last year he was rapt just to be invited back for 2015.

Lauchlan Dalgleish from Essendon has joined the Scray. I think this is a good addition to the side.

The non listed allotment looks fairly strong again .
I think they'll go well again

          Dalgleish joins 'Scray

The Footscray Bulldogs have secured former Essendon midfielder Lauchlan Dalgleish for the 2016 season, along with four more signings.

Dalgleish is joined by Jordan Staley, Hugh Wales, Andrew Tashevski-Beckwith and Brad Olsson who also signed on with the Club this week.

The news comes just days after the Club secured the services of 11 players from its 2015 list, including Mark Austin and Jordan Russell.

Dalgleish spent three years on the Bombers’ list, after being recruited via pick 11 in the 2002 rookie draft.

The 22-year-old made his AFL debut in 2013 and played three AFL games before being delisted by the Bombers at the end of last season.

Footscray coach Ashley Hansen said Dalgleish was an important signing for the VFL side.

“Lauchie’s an important signing for us because he’s had three years with the Essendon Football Club.

“He gives us that AFL experience which is important that we have for our young AFL-listed players playing each week but also for our VFL squad in general.”

Although predominantly a defender in his time at Bomberland, Hansen says Dalgleish has the capacity to push into the midfield.

“He’s got a lot of fantastic attributes like his speed and his ball use which I think will suit the Bulldogs style of play really well.

“He will be one of our really important midfielders but we think he has got a lot of room to develop in a lot of different areas.”

Staley is a former North Ballarat junior who was on St Kilda’s rookie list and also spent time with Sandringham, and joins the Bulldogs with existing VFL experience, while Wales joins from Werribee’s VFL side.

“Jordan is a big guy who offers some flexibility at both ends of the ground to play as a tall, so we’re rapt to have his experience,” Hansen said.

“(Wales has) had a bit of opportunity at VFL level, but we think he can provide the age demographic of our list and play some really good footy for us.”

Tashevski-Beckwith and Olsson round out the new signings, with both players coming out of the TAC Cup competition.

“Andrew’s from the Sandringham Dragons, who just missed out on getting drafted and has aspirations to go to the next level and Brad is from the Gippsland Power, who is a good ball user off of half back.

“Andrew’s an inside mid as well, so we’ve got a nice balance of guys at different levels.”

Footscray’s first practice match will be Sunday 12 March against Collingwood at the Holden Centre at 4pm.

Simon Beasley has a son called Hugh. He almost made it onto our list as a F/S but decided to take up rowing in his final footy year instead! I understand he went back to footy but with not much exposed form it was too late.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I saw a bit of Beasley and he made the right move focusing on rowing, even if he wasn't a great rower. If he wasn't tall with the surname Beasley no one would have ever looked at him twice. He really lacked hand eye coordination and wasn't a good mover, catching the ball was a real challenge, as was trying to run and kick at the same time.

Hugh Wales is quite tall. , scruffy looking kid, I have never seen him play and I only learnt he was at footscray when Ashlin Brown(Northern Blues ex Werribee player) told me.
Haven't talked to him yet but probably will when I see him next at work.

Might want to advise him to remove the picture of himself sans pants from his facebook page.

                      Re: Playing list 2016

Tashevski-Beckwith looks like a midfielder who averaged 19.75 disposals in the TAC cup last year.
Staley is a kpp who I assume played in defense last year for North Ballarat since he only picked up the 6 goals from 14 games. During the middle of the season he was consistently getting about 7-8 marks a game but it looks like his efficiency by foot isn't too flash.
I can't find much about Olsson, he played for Gippsland power last year and played for Sale in the Gippsland Football League as well.

He wears light blue shorts at work, I don't go looking on Facebook.
                        Seems a quiet kid though.

He went back to football in his draft year and was eligible but got no interest. I don't know that he bothered to nominate in the end. It was the same year the non related Beasley went. Hasn't stopped a few commentators refer to the Brisbane kiddie as the "son of." Son of Kim* maybe. Certainly not Simon.
