Re: Round 4 - Footscray Bulldogs v Werribee Tigers
Not a great game, very few performances of note. Minson, Honeychurch and Dunkley looked like the only AFL footballers out there today. Frustrating to watch, the wind made it difficult so a little reprieve for the atrocious kicking n display.Time and Tide Waits For No ManComment

Ledge loves Redpath so I take his comments with a grain of salt, but a lot would have to change for Big Red to be useful in our team.. He is very much a lead up player and we haven't been spotting up targets all that well this year.
Maybe by having lead it might drag a tall away and allow our other forwards room to work? But if we continue to play a bombs away style he won't be effective.Comment

Re: Round 4 - Footscray Bulldogs v Werribee Tigers
I suppose we miss someone with sticky hands, so if the long bomb goes down there they will mark it 8 times out of ten.
We currently don't have that player and probably haven't had since KT, I think this is the TBoyd role but at the moment is not ready.Last edited by Hotdog60; 01-05-2016, 09:35 AM.Don't piss off old people

I go to VFL games and the last few weeks our seniors are lacking someone to help out up forward, now regarding that we also need someone who demands the ball we use and has a bit of xxxx in them.Ledge loves Redpath so I take his comments with a grain of salt, but a lot would have to change for Big Red to be useful in our team.. Redpath has presented, every time he has got it he has done something with it.
You tell me a better option than him?
Tom is injured and at the moment I don't see the xxxx in him.
I'm a Redpath fan because I see he is doing everything right that we need.
I would also like to see Minson back as a main ruck and maybe Roughy float back and forward depending on opposition side and game moments.
One thing Minson does but not many ruck man do is smash the ball forward about 20 metres a lot, why isn't that a set up plan, no other team seems to do it.Bring back the biffComment

Re: Round 4 - Footscray Bulldogs v Werribee Tigers
Can I also add we seem to go on about you can't fit too many big guys in one team ., North are on top of the ladder and have so many talls in their side it blows away that theory.
PS Redpath can kick straight and is very reliable another thing we are really struggling with. A booming accurate kick.Bring back the biffComment

I noticed that Redpath has been spending a bit of time as a midfielder, is this to build his tank or has it been to match opposition tall mids.Don't piss off old people

Hey Ledge what was Redpath so upset about halfway through the second quarter. I saw him niggling with a Werribee player on the members wing followed the ball and when I looked back Jack was complaining to the umpire. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Werribee player just doing things behind play, I would imagine trying to upset him.. ( not something I would be doing ) from what I saw.Bring back the biffComment

He swaps in the ruck a lot . Little more yesterday with Campbell going up.
Bevo likes to play everyone everywhere. VFL is more a training ground than winning.

Match Report
The Footscray Bulldogs are 1-3 in the 2016 after a 43-point loss to Werribee on Saturday afternoon at Victoria University Whitten Oval.
Werribee took advantage of a strong breeze blowing to the Seddon end, putting on six goals to the Bulldogs one in the opening term.
Footscray were not able to apply the same scoreboard pressure in the second, kicking four goals to the Tigers’ five.
A disappointed Ashley Hansen said that he was disappointed in his side’s defensive effort and inability to score.
‘Once again our defense was poor in the second quarter, he said.
‘When we were kicking to the breeze our inability to retain possession and have shots on goal resulted in turnovers across our forward mid/mid-forward area.
‘Our ability to then transition off that and defend was also poor, so in the second quarter allowing them to kick five wasn’t up to standard.’
Josh Dunkley was a standout with 34 disposals, Hansen impressed with the 19-year-old’s work rate.
‘He’s a young mid who works really hard Josh, he’s in and under, he’s a battering ram, he had a lot handballs and a lot if tackles in day that was pretty tough.
“He’s got a great appetite for the contest.’
Werribee again scored heavily in the third term, kicking to the Bulldogs’ 3.0, but the Dogs were able to hold the Tigers to just two goals in the final term, both scored after the 18-minute mark.
Hansen acknowledged the second-half effort and also the amount of new inexperienced young Dogs in the red, white and blue in their first season.
‘We lost the second half by 8 points so the boys responded and they tried hard.
‘We had 11 of our 23 in their first year with us so it was a big development game for them.’
Despite this, Hansen is adamant that the Bulldogs will respond and the necessary changes will be made to get the side back on the winner’s list.
‘What I’ll be looking for over the coming weeks are the players that learn and are able to build and develop their games.
“They’ll remain with us and those that cant will forgo their position because we need to keep improving each week and we cant continually make the same lapses and errors.’
Footscray return to Victoria University Whitten Oval next Sunday, taking on North Ballarat next week at 11.40am.

Re: Round 4 - Footscray Bulldogs v Werribee Tigers
Minson can't play forward at all. North have talls who play forward , and Goldstein plays about 100% ruck .
Tom Boyd being out hurts our structure at the momentComment
