    Under 16's National Champs 2016

    Article today:

THE WESTERN Bulldogs' rich history of father-son recruits looks set to continue with club great Scott West's son Rhylee impressing at the NAB AFL Under-16 Championships on the Gold Coast.

Like his seven-time Bulldogs' best and fairest winning father, Rhylee knows how to find the footy and registered 20 disposals, nine tackles and a goal in Vic Metro's 16-point loss to South Australia.

AFL national talent manager Kevin Sheehan was glowing in his assessment of the prolific midfielder.

"He was just tough, hard with very quick hands and tackled very strongly," Sheehan told AFL.com.au.

"He impressed with his attack on the ball and his use of the footy."

The Dogs already have sons of guns Tom Liberatore, Mitch Wallis, Lachie Hunter and Zaine Cordy in their ranks and are a strong chance to add Jose Romero's son Michael to its list at November's draft after the 17-year-old impressed with two matches with Footscray in the VFL recently.

There were several other potential future father-son prospects running around at Metricon Stadium on Monday with Oscar Brownless (Billy, Geelong), Kye Dunkley (Andrew, Sydney) and Joel Crocker (Darren, North Melbourne) all catching the eye.

Sam Stynes, who is the nephew of the late Melbourne legend Jim Stynes, was named amongst Vic Metro's best, but he doesn't qualify as a father-son recruit because his father Brian only played two games with the Demons.

Western Australia was led to a 42-point victory over Vic Country by Ian Hill, who is the cousin of Fremantle's Stephen and Hawthorn's Brad.

The exciting playmaker finished with 4.3 from 13 touches.

    SOUTH AUSTRALIA 15.8 (98)
    VIC METRO 11.16 (82)

    GOALS
South Australia: Woodcock 2, Whitbread 2, Carney 2, Munn 2, Wilkinson, Rozee, Lewis, Hately, Lochowiak, Valente, Martin
Vic Metro: M.King 3, Butters 2, West, Golds, Gillard, Taylor, O.King, Murphy

    BEST
South Australia: Lukosius, Munn, Rozee, Woodcock, Valente, Lewis, Lochowiak
Vic Metro: Butters, Skidmore, Taylor, Stynes, B.King, M.King

    WESTERN AUSTRALIA 13.15 (93)
    VIC COUNTRY 7.9 (51)

    GOALS
Western Australia: Hill 4, Stack 3, Medhat 2, Fazioli, Willcocks, Smallwood, Moore
Vic Country: Garoni 3, Chatfield 2, Hill, Barzen

    BEST
Western Australia: Morgan, Hill, Miller, Smallwood, Stack
Vic Country: Garoni, Atley, Caldwell, Reid, Berry, Mosquito

This backs up Rhylee's second best on ground for Vic Metro a couple of weeks back. He's already as tall as his dad and just shy of his playing weight. Guess we can't keep him quiet now.

Wonder how WA's Stack is related to our Brennan. Thought he was going to be a player.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

One of the softest players we ever drafted. Would have been a gun in indoor footy.

Softest ever players. Man, there's a monumentally long thread just there for starting.

God bless the Wests' back fence.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Rhylee West named Vic Metro MVP for 2016. I dare say the good form and named MVP put him on everyone's radar.
