3/4 time - Tigers 15.5 Dogs 4.3. We r constantly turning the ball over. Adams probably one of the better Dogs players

Dogs communication team dropping the ball big time with the lack of coverage around this game. Plenty of listed players turning out you'd imagine, not that you'd know as the club hasn't bothered to release a confirmed team list. No updates on players, possession winners or goal kickers during the game either.

According to Richmond's coverage, we are copping a genuine belting.

Not a great start to our VFL campaign.

Who were the positives of the night and who was dissapointing and needs to work harder.

                Thanks for the updates Smads57.

Re: VFL Match info: Footscray Bulldogs v Richmond

This was a hard game to watch after the success the VFL side had in 2016, but it was a practice match and I suspect for us, a chance to have as many AFL listed players on the park for a final hit out before their season begins in a fortnight. As a result of this suspected strategy, we had a much more pronounced physically smaller team than the Tiges and also a team yet to fully experience playing together (I make this last point as I noticed the few times we were able to get a run of play, the AFL players seemed to be 'waxing' with each other).

Under intense pressure, I thought Adams was the only AFL listed player who might be happy with his game. It was probably just good for Dicko to be back out on the park as he wasn't able to get his hands on the ball much.

A bit disappointed with Dunkleys game - thought he would have been busting a gut to get into the first 22 (Jong might be ahead of him at present). He is only 19/20 however, so not overly concerned. Most of our 2nd/3rd year players tried hard but we're just overrun by a better team on the night.

Of the new batch of recruits, would probably put NMM and Lipinsky forward for their games (NMM took some good grabs and Paddy did some nice work around the ground). English battled hard, but was no match for Maric. I wouldn't expect him to play AFL with his current body strength - it would be a better investment to let him develop his body over the coming 12 months than risk him in any way. Young and Green played like 18 year old boys which they are against men - they were just not strong enough in the contest, but that will come, so we'll watch this space for now.

i think we should judge the VFL side after they complete their full pre-season campaign as there were a lot of players missing with bigger bodies eg Russell, Barry, T-B etc.

Good report Smads. Reading overall a dissapointing night with positives in there. Will be right.
