Tim English is going to be an absolute star over 200 cm but moves like bontempelli , his ball handling is unbelievable in close his evasive ball getting skills , balking and nous just took my breath away .
His downside at the moment is his build, he will get knocked over in AFL against big body ruckman.
I think he will play this year but be a Little patient with his ruck work just to slight.
As they say lock it in the kid is going to be a gun.
Would he be the first player at 18 to never play a game in anger and get a two year extension ? Theirs a reason for that.

The question is though is he a midfielder or ruckman at this stage? Can you be a ruckman if you cant win a tap?

You can in Bevo's world. Nullifying the opposition's ruck advantage, providing a marking target around the ground and being useful in a zone/chain of possession is much more important that dominating tap after tap.

Lots of ruckman have no intention of winning the tap. They are happy to just halve the ruck contest and still be in a position to try and get the ball when it hits the ground.

So bullish about English. 16 touches, 6 marks, 15 HOs and 93 ranking points in his first competitive game against a much more mature ruck in Fitzpatrick.

There was another big guy there, possibly a 3rd. Don't know their team but they had some big lads out there yesterday.

Don't rate Fitzpatrick, English seemed to play better when that clown was rucked.

Dale is a watch for mine - 11 touches at this level is an indictment on his ability to get involved. Disappointing as he has some great tools that could really benefit the senior team.

Yeah I was really disappointed in his game. Got into the game a bit more late but overall not up to standard. I'm a big fan, hope he puts it together.

McCugh musn't of touched the ball in the 2nd half. I reckon he would have had close to that at half time. It was a really impressive first half from the kid but not seen much after that.

Don't rate Fitzpatrick, English seemed to play better when that clown was rucked.

Hawks also had Pittonet out there who's seen AFL action before. Good job by Timmy.

I'm trying to remember when was the last time we drafted a project player and there were such high expectations on him so early in his career?

English performed OK against Fitzpatrick but clearly struggled against Pitonnet who is a year older and 15kg heavier and has played just 3 senior games for the Hawks.

Martin, Lobbe and had a decent interest in Kruezer

The point being everyone says Bevo has this magical potion for the ruck and yet he hasn't really reinvented the position......yet and had we landed Lobbe or Martin I dare say we would think Bevo had a more traditional stance on the position.
