VFL Geelong vs Footscray 22 April 2018

    Geelong 2.1-13 6.3-39 10.6-66 13.9-87
    Footscray 2.2-14 6.6-42 9.7-61 10.8-68

    FOOTSCRAY
    Goal Kickers: A. Monfries 4, A. Panayi 2, W. Hayes, J. Trengove, A. Bruhn, L. Sullivan, S. Crameri 2
Best Players: A. Monfries, W. Hayes, F. Roberts, L. Young

Funny thing before the start of the game the umpires were bouncing the ball in the centre and throwing in along the boundary giving the Geelong rucks and midfielders clearance practice. Then we got a turn.

How I reckon the AFL listed players went

    2 L.Young
Started slowly but picked up as the game progressed. He was involved in one of the most unfortunate memorable pieces of play for the day. We had just retaken the lead early in the last quarter and Young took control of the ball on the wing near the boundary line. He did a short pass to Biggs. The pass was crap. Biggs didn't recover it well at all. Geelong took the ball away, goaled and goodnight nurse. A big kick down the line should have been the play.

    18 F.Roberts
One of his better games. I thought he was best on the ground. Stopped many forward moves by taking intercepting marks or making a well placed punch.

    8 J.Trengove
He wasn't nearly as influential as he should have been. He had 5 shots at goal for 1 goal 4 behinds. Different story all-around if he kicked straight.

    23 J.Roughead
I don't really know what he was doing. Had a shot at goal for a behind and that is about all I can remember.

    40 N.Mullenger-Mchugh
    Slight improvement each week. Serviceable.

    15 T.Campbell
Our first quarter specialist. He had a shot at goal in the first quarter and it was rolling through but Panayi got his boot to it just in time to pinch the goal. He played OK.

    30 F.Greene
    Not memorable.

    24 S.Biggs
Got a fair bit of the ball but there seemed to be a long string of disposals that just went straight to the opposition.

    36 S. Crameri
Trying to hide his face with a big beard. Kicked a couple of goals, but he had the wrong jumper on so they were credited to Geelong.

Another memorable moment was when Bruhn (hero of a 6 goal haul a while back) dribbled one from a pack towards the open goals from 70 meters out. Dang ball bounced crooked.

Nobody really putting their hand up for selection.

          Heh! Great report JC.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
