There are a number of players on the medium midfielders list that I think would be a good fit for us.

Liam Stocker, Ely Smith and Jye Caldwell are genuine midfielders. We probably all know Hately, Rozee and of course West.

I'd really like the opportunity to pair one of the above players with West this year

So if we don’t get Wingard we are looking good with one of these and West.

Only 50 players get drafted...there is a fair bit of depth this year and someone will fall through to the rookie draft. Even assuming we trade pick 7 (which is fair enough assuming we can retain last year’s 2x first rounders) we will have the chance to get West + another mid. The father-son thing is a genuine free hit and we are in a strong position because of it.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Yep, the draft bats a bit deep but from 40 onward's I'm sure it starts to thin out and perhaps we might look at more experienced types with some state league experience rather than the youngsters and perhaps a Crozier style trade.
