VFL and VFLW we did it but couldn't do it in the AFL.

I thought Webb looked good in trying conditions. I think he had one HTB against him and may have given away a free which lead to an oppo goal but apart from that was really hard at in trying conditions. At least there was no wind!! Also thought Tory looked a class above but feel he is now too slow in seniors. Both Young’s did ok too. Vandermeer did some nice things too - got some serious speed. Greene tried hard in limited game time and will be better for the run. West is a tough player and smart too eg deft taps to advantage. Give Webb at least 4 games in a row in seniors to see if he will make it - he deserves a go. Would be a feel good story if he plays well with his recovery from serious neck injury too. Schache tried hard and was better than last week but feel he still needs to attack the ball more. Sweet did some nice ruck work at times.

Worth giving Lewis Young another go in seniors-perhaps in F50.

We were 3 goals down very early on too. We played better after heavy rain stopped.

I'd have absolutely ZERO insight into our Footscray performances if not for your dedicated posts.

Thanks Josie...your comments mirror my thoughts.

Webb did get it a lot, but the conditions for 'good footy' were not there and he did his best to get amongst it. Would be interesting if he was elevated as I struggle to see where they would play him - he is not a forward flank/pocket type.

I think Lewis Young would have been the only option from last night's game to find a senior spot for next week. He played fwd/back and ruck (as the conditions dictated), so could genuinely help out the senior side if they needed another swingman (a la Cordy). I agree that Dickson was a class above the rest....but....

We must have been sitting in the same row in the Whitten Stand Josie, as I seen a lot of those good tap ons etc also from West - he clearly summed up how to play best in the wet weather conditions when he couldn't get the ball himself.

I was a bit disappointed with La Young's game. Although he got the ball a lot, I would be interested to see his disposal efficiency numbers. His kicking was bullet like, but in the conditions, he managed to pick out the opposition more than he should have. Nonetheless, he played an important role across half back, along with Roberts and Khamis (who is improving with each game by small increments).

Porter was good around the ball again this week and importantly, hit the scoreboard. I agree this was a better game (by a small margin only) from Schache.

Can I profess a bit of man love for Vandermeer...when he gets the ball you get a bit excited as he just sprints off and really assists with metres gained. Might be someone Bevo can bring into the side late in the season.

Sweet worked manfully against two big ruck opponents (one being BTC), and was given a chop out by Young and Gardner from time to time. Still a big WIP.

Jong needed the hit out as did Fergus (who does look like he could add a different 'look' to our AFL fwd line when he gets himself fitter).

Hayes simply returned to his usual role in this format and just ran his a**e off to accumulate possessions. Kicked a couple of points and if they had been goals, would have really made a difference.

Gowers got it a lot, but also kicked poorly when having shots on goal...not ready for promotion yet.

Continuing to like Roarke's role as a defensive wing/half fwd.

Of the VFL players, I thought William and Scott were the stand outs and important contributors in the win. Gardner was affected by the weather - marking is his key trait, and the slippery ball didn't help. Drummond had a quieter game than last week but kicked an important goal.

                            Thanks for the feedback YHF.

I can't make it to the next three games, so I'll be looking forward myself to other WOOFERS reporting on our VFL games played during that period.

I was wandering around boundary line with large umbrella - my eyesight not the greatest and I love to hear the players and coaches yell at each other as well as yell my own encouragement (and groans of despair). I really think West is possibly something special - small but tough and smart with reasonable kicking and v.good hand passes. Would love to see him get a run as small forward in seniors soon. Totally agree about Vandermeer-an excitement machine in the making and appears to be pretty tough/not afraid to put body on the line.
