I wasn't particularly impressed with either of those guys today. Not sure what happens next week, unless Sweet gets over the ankle, but didn't look good.FFC: Established 1883

Re: Round 14 - 2019 Footscray Bulldogs v Richmond
Some quick thoughts around this afternoon's game...
West had a booming first half, not as prominent in the second half but still a strong game. Bevo would have liked what he seen I suspect. Played a fair bit of second half as a small forward. I believe he is currently a better option than Cavarra for any vacancy in the AFL team's forward half.
Dale was strong all day - needs to translate the effort to the big league however. Likely to get the coaches votes.
Porter put in another solid four quarters, but I don't see him getting a chance at senior level as he likely sits behind a couple of other players in the pecking order. Needs to 'add' to his game - goal kicking would help.
Lynch played back and again got more of the ball than on the occasions he has had to play forward this year - an ok game
Vandermeer was another who had a good game - does the little things like tapping the ball to advantage that show he has some footy smarts. I like the ball in his hands as well - fast and a neat kick.
Cavarra quieter this week - I think Richmond may have put some time into him during the week.
The backline group of Young x2 and Khamis all played their respective roles without starring (La Young left ground at 3 qtr time to act as emergency for this evening). Khamis improving ever so slightly each week.
Morris clearly more influential this week - another game at this level might see him ready for AFL.
Sweet had a good contest with the Richmond rucks until he went off halfway thru the third quarter. He left the ground on crutches with his ankle in ice.
Gardner was solid down back and then when Sweet went off, took over the ruck role until an early last quarter centre square bounce seen him in the hands of the trainers. Didn't look good and he left the ground on crutches with ice applied just below his knee.
Le Young copped a whack in the last qtr and really looked worse for wear when he came off, but went back on after about 7 mins (when Gardner came off).
Roberts played forward and back (probably 60/40) and played his role but showed nothing that would inspire an elevation to the seniors.
Much better game from Hayes this week - found out he has had a bit of knee soreness recently but all good now and his efforts today confirmed that.
Wallis played a solid game without dominating and made it thru unscathed which is what I suspect he would have been aiming for.
Jongy didn't really get into it until the last qtr when the game was over, but i'm sure it was more about him being on the ground than necessarily how many possessions he won.
Of the VFL level players, Scott was solid again as was Wally Jnr (captained the side). William worked hard all day and 23rd man, Jordan Boyd ended up with 3 goals. There is no sadder sight than a young pessimist.

Good summary Smads57. I thought Buku got better as the game went on. Some of West's handballs reminded of Scotty.FFC: Established 1883

Very even team effort. God help us if one of English or Trengove or Schache or Naughton goes down. VFL side did remarkably well considering no talk target inside 50. Tigers played better in Q3 but did not take their chances. We held firm in first 10 or so minutes of Q4 then blew them away.
Liked Van der Meer and Hates and Bailey Dale’s game as well as Westy. Cavarra was well held but did some nice things. Goal kicking accuracy was first class. Having Wally in middle helped out Porter who went well today and is a tough but (tigers I think tried to target him as possible weak link but he held firm and got better as match went on). Jong seemed to play more outside pack type of game-still building stamina and great to see him out there. Boyd (or was it Scott...) kicked a ripper goal fr difficult angle part way through Q4 and felt after that momentum swung our way.
La Young was very good for about a half (solid marks and punches and read ball well) and then taken off as emergency for tonight.Josie :)
Our day will come
And we'll have everything.
We'll share the joy

What I've never understood is the lack of footage available for VFL games across the state. I mean I'm sitting here watching the local NBL1 team Bendigo Braves on YouTube and can do this nearly every week. The AFL/VFL are miles behind with what can be done through streaming options.Comment
