What is the biggest win/loss you have been involved in footy.

Just on Ararat's 509 point loss. What is the biggest win/loss you have been involved in?

Mine was when I played for Gladstone Park under 17's in the EDFL many years ago.
    Score line by memory was
Gladstone Park 39.36 to Aberfeldie 0.1
Our coach decided to swap the forward line and backline at halftime so every one got in on the action which was obviously at the end we were kicking to.
At the start of the 3rd quarter I took up my position on a half back flank and waited for my opponent. Out he came wearing woolen gloves to keep warm and half way through the quarter he lit up a dart and offered me a drag.
We had a great side back then with a number of kids going on to play at North under 19's.

I was on the end of a loss like this, I don't remember the exact margin but it would be close. School footy, we had a couple of TAC level guys so we thought we were OK. Turns out they had a heap of them and it was rediculous. I was playing forward and the ball came down once for the game for a hacked behind. Outside of that one kick, I don't think our forward line got one other possession. It helped me decide to take up umpiring.

No massive wins like that but I was involved in an under 16 team coached by my Uncle at Blue West (Geelong West) that went through as undefeated champs. We were regularly knocking over sides by 60-100 points. We even had the Geelong Advertiser come down to training and take photos which were spread inside the back page of the sports section under the title 'Future Champions'. Ah the golden years. Needless to say the end of season trip to Swan Hill was an absolute write off.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I remember seeing on the news a number of years ago when Albanvale beat North Sunshine in the WRFL by 401 points. How’s North Sunshine going these days?

Not much better it seems. They played Albanvale again today and lost 54.35.359 to 2.2.14.

Not much has changed. They must need a huge overhaul now. Would be very tough to be involved with the North Sunshine Football Club.

The Road Runners had some good teams many years ago.

Biggest win was about 240 points. Think it was roughly 260-20.
It was a quiet day, as I was playing in the backline....but managed to sneak forward close enough to kick 2!

Biggest loss - played in a game where we only kicked one goal. Think we went down 160-odd to 1.4.10. Our goal came in the last quarter.

Re: What is the biggest win/loss you have been involved in footy.

I dunno about the biggest loss but the most humiliating loss I have played in was in 1981 against a team called Chisholm College in a comp called the Herald Sun Shield which was an all in schools comp run on an elimination basis like the FA Cup. All you had to do was nominate your school and you were in. Matches were organized by ballot so you had government schools that might be lucky to have an oval to play on (we used a local teams oval as our home ground but the facilities were a bit on the basic side) playing against Assumption College who had better facilities than most VFL teams at the time.

Anyhoo the first round we played Totty tech and pantsed them and then it was some pack of sniveling Catholic school kids that we terrorized mercilessly on the ground and on the scoreboard so we were pretty confident when we got through to the main round. This round was played on VFL and VFA grounds and when we got nominated to play a local private school nobody had heard of called Chisholm College then we thought we were a huge chance.

We run out onto the ground and there they were. Steve and Rod MacPherson, Alastair Ford and a bunch of other kids that Footscray had gathered from all around Australia. We kicked 3 points and they kicked 25+ goals. It was a nightmare. At one stage I picked up the ball in the forward pocket and went to handball it to our captain (who went on to have a fairly good career so I won't embarrass him by naming him) who was standing in the goalsquare all by himself when he screamed "NO" and ran in the other direction! The bloody ball bounced through for a point! But when you think about it that was a third of our total score...
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Obviously I wasn't involved in this but Williamstown had a fair day out as a club back in 1986.

Ill bet that Mark Fotheringham is spewing he missed the game.

He's the best full forward I saw who didn't play league football.

                              A fair weekend for Willy.

Terry Wheeler was captain in '86 and led them to the flag against Phil Cleary's Coburg in a fiery final. I had a great day out and the terraces at Junction oval was awash with empty cans after the game.
