I don't know anything for certain but it's always been mentioned that we needed money and Fitzroy offered 70k but you've probably already heard thatWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool" -

Re: Did Bernie Quinlan want to leave the FFC?
I was fairly young when he left
I remember the club tried everything to get Bernie to perform ( even a holiday up north)
They lost patience, and the rest is historyComment

George Bisset was another going to Collingwood under at the time the 10 year law.Comment

Yes, that was my impression too. Why I asked is that someone on Facebook page called KT and Bernie traitors and I don't believe that for a minute.http://journals.worldnomads.com/merantau

Yes, that is what I heard. We were in a parlous state financially and needed the $$$.http://journals.worldnomads.com/merantau

I have only seen one player kick the ball further than Bernie. In a game against Geelong, Ben Graham kicking in from the Geelong Rd end, got the ball to land on the logo in front of the John Gent Stand and there wasn't much wind either. But for long kicking consistency the three best I've seen are Bernie, KT and Mr Football.http://journals.worldnomads.com/merantau

Re: Did Bernie Quinlan want to leave the FFC?
Indeed it was. There is no doubt that Fitzroy saw the very best of Bernie over a long time. They had some bloody good players in the 80s. I saw Micky Conlon kick 11 against us at the Junction Oval.

Kick in to play. Tick. Kick out from full back. Tick.
Try explaining that to an ESL student!
Or this: "PIES SHOCK. DAICOS OUT!"
Isn't English marvellous.http://journals.worldnomads.com/merantau

We recently inducted him into our hall of fame.
I believe though that we got the best of KT but merantau can fill us in on that. Would be great to have a forward like that now."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I'm just so happy - ecstatic"Comment

Having spoken with Bernie he was disappointed to leave the Bulldogs for Fitzroy, and he has since returned to the Club and loving his re-connection with it.Comment
