Re: Ray Chamberlain umpiring in regional leagues now?

I'm loathe to say the non officiating umpire is cheating, but I can't think of any reason why he'd do that. Otherwise it smacks of "how can I make this about me?".

I hope the decision is reversed at appeal because it's just ridiculous."It's over. It's all over."Comment

Re: Ray Chamberlain umpiring in regional leagues now?

There are some occasions where the non-officiating umpire should get involved where clearly the umpire in control has had their vision obscured and missed a clear throw, or high tackle for example. However these instances are fairly rare. I imagine umpires would be pretty annoyed with their colleagues if they are coming in and overriding their decisions.

Here the officiating umpire was in the perfect position to judge the line of the kicker and clearly didn't adjudge him to have played on. If I was the officiating umpire I would have told the other clown to F right off.

Apparently the club have raised previous concerns about this umpire so it feels like there is a past prejudice at play here. There definitely seem to be local umpires that don't like certain clubs for whatever reason and let it effect their decision making.Comment

Re: Ray Chamberlain umpiring in regional leagues now?

In the ammos it seemed certain umpires favoured some of the more established A and B section old boy clubs over the less established ones. Whether it be allowing players to continue running after bouncing whilst being tackled (whilst everyone had stopped expecting a free kick), to not overturning clear missed shots at goal or touched off the boot goals, or allowing specific rucks just to throw the ball instead of handballing it after a throw-in and simply ignoring a rule change that meant a ruck tackled when taking possession off a ruck contest was immediately holding the ball you bet it, they ignored it.There are some occasions where the non-officiating umpire should get involved where clearly the umpire in control has had their vision obscured and missed a clear throw, or high tackle for example. Once it sets in it kind of becomes self-perpetuating because the abuse ramps up and the umpire feels more justified in being prejudiced as a result. It's a bit strange that this type of stuff happens, but it does because people are strange.*

*Note - the overwhelming majority of umpires at local levels do an amazing job and often under trying circumstances. Mostly people need to chill out and leave them alone and encourage/ thank them.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment
