Trading In The Top 10 Draft Order - 2021

I’m thinking a couple of clubs might be interested in trading theirs this year. With Daicos & Darcy spoken about in the Top 3, every other clubs top Draft Pick gets pushed back two selections. It’s just my suspicion that some of these clubs might trade them with their value reduced.

    Notably:

Pick 5 - Hawthorn is now Pick 7
Pick 6 - Carlton is now Pick 8
Pick 7 - Richmond is now Pick 9
Pick 8 - Fremantle is now Pick 10
Pick 9 - St Kilda is now Pick 11
Pick 10 - WCE is now Pick 12

In recent times particularly Hawthorn, Carlton, St Kilda, West Coast & Fremantle have been more than willing to trade their First Rounder. If these clubs come knocking on our door with these picks (Picks 7-12) for one of our very good but tradable players, which we can flip into another trade for address a genuine need, do we take it?

With the Top 10 heavily compromised from a usage perspective, I wonder if there’s an opportunity somewhere in here for us having partly created the mayhem taking Darcy Top 3, to then get something extra with it compromised and flip it for a quality needs based player.

Hawks would give up their first for Bazlenka.

I'm not so sure, Mitchell has time and building via the draft plus attracting a FA will likely be their approach over the next two years.
They're not that far off being a good side again but they can't position themselves like they are a finals team.

I get you have to give up something good to get something good but the Victoria draft crop hasn't played much footy in the last two years so the return on any player drafted might be slow.
I'll just about part with any player if the deal is right but it would need to be a better deal than a first round pick for Smith. He's got some things to work on but I'm confident he will put in the effort during the off season.

Yeah, Smith might have a ways to go but he's 20 and has done some remarkable things. I wouldn't be trading him unless something irresistible comes up.
