I'm far from an officianado on the trade period....but how did Chol get to Gold Coast? Is this one where the AFL will work out the compensation somewhere down the line? And is that available to us with Lipinski?

No it's not. As BAD suggested it is a free agency move but Chol is classed as a delisted free agent as he was delisted some time ago and then re-rookied.

Lipinski will need to be traded or he can walk to the pies via the pre season draft.

I would feel gutted if he walked to the Pies and we got nothing. Thats not really good list management at all.

In what way is it bad list management though? If there's a mechanism for the Pies to take him for free and he is willing to participate in that then what recourse is there since he didn't accept out 3 year contract offer?

I don't think this is a reflection on list management but more that he fell out of the best 22 calculations and is looking to leave rather looking to improve.

The move gives Collingwood enough points to safely match a bid for father-son prospect Nick Daicos, which is likely to fall at the top of the upcoming national draft, as well as picks to complete trades for Bulldogs midfielder Patrick Lipinski and Geelong tall Nathan Kreuger.

But the deal means the Magpies will have almost no picks in next year’s draft, a scary prospect given they’re in the midst of a rebuild.

What picks will we accept for Pat?

Whatever we can. A third rounder at best, we’d want start of round and they’d want late round. If they have an unsigned player we’d want add them in as steak knives.

Geelong's Nathan Kreuger is headed to Collingwood in the first trade of the 2021 AFL Trade Period. The Magpies have given up pick No.41 in exchange for Kreuger and Geelong's pick No.55.

Jeremy Finlayson will be a Port Adelaide player next year. The Power will give up a future third round pick.
