Maybe do what BJ said and move him back to get him in the game.

I like that your glass half full bornadog its generally a good way to be but with all due respect standing not getting out of a canter has hardly anything to do with the way the ball has being kicked in. He has made 0 effort to create separation from his opponent I would say he is bordering on being disinterested.

He certainly needs to do something different. He is now looking behind where he was last year, although it is a significantly worse team to perform with.

We should chuck him on a wing

It's strange that game against the swans he ran hard, harassed, tackled and worked hard into dangerous positions when we had it.
When I watch him in the vfl he looks slow and struggles to find a way to impact the game.
I guess he's really only played 20 odd games of senior football all up unlike a Mcdonald or Tillthorpe so he's very raw.
Wouldn't hurt to move him up the ground when he's struggling.

Gosh I haven't seen a Footscray team play that bad for many years. Most can't kick, catch, tackle or pick the ball up. Including senior listed players.

Only bright lights for me were Crozier and MacPherson who is certainly a chip off the old block!

What's hurting him at the moment is that he doesn't have a tank. He has one effort and goes missing for 5 minutes recovering. He needs to play games to build his fitness base so he can repeatedly lead into space and pressure. Until he can begin to do that, he'll continue to struggle getting separation from his opponents or beat them through sheer workrate like Naughton.

Well said Swoop. He took one good mark in Q1 and laid a good tackle at least twice (one was late in Q3) but then didn’t follow it up with much else. Has to learn to play almost like his life depended upon it & no matter how badly he is positioned just keep at it - like Naughton does. It does not help that our vfl team’s ball movement is often slow and indirect so forward line ends up congested or direct to advantage if an opposition player. Looks a little bereft of confidence - I like the idea of putting him on the wing or even backline so he has more touches.

Of other senior player I thought Charlie Parker got a bit of it and has a nice long kick and Bedendo early on looked good. Schache and Jones tried pretty hard all day (Schache really does need to take some angry pills though) but otherwise cupboard looks a little bare. I’m not confident Butler will be a best 22 player, hope I’m wrong.
                      Josie :)

                      Our day will come
                      And we'll have everything.
                      We'll share the joy
                      Just like '54 again.

I thought Darcy competed well aerially in defence. I guess that's to be expected at this level and at his height but still good to see

I think a bit on the slower side. More Roughead than Naughton. Didn't seem to be caught behind his man but probably lacked the tank for more repeated high speed efforts.

Jones is definitely not a ready made player. He flashes in and out of the game. 6 touches today, he just wasn't in it. I am starting to worry about him.

Who claimed he was a ready made player? Why are you worried about a kid 8 games into a season in a team that is bottom 2?
