O'Brien has a long way to go as a defender, just got out muscled in a key moment. Best he develops at VFL level for the remainder of the year.

Darcy's marking so good, shows so much this kid. Mclean's endeavour has been sensational just lacking a yard of pace to break clear.

Schache again had 80% of a mark at a key moment then dropped it....

Agree, although he should have held on regardless. Raak's missed chest mark another fluffed opportunity...

Hunter's been all class today. I think he has to slot back into the AFL team next week. Martin's also been very influential.

Darcy would have still marked it. All too common from Josh.

And just spilt another. I've always had my fingers crossed for him but he just hasn't shown any development at all since being with us.

Hunter has run it out well.

Since we usually take a footscray player on the list would anyone be upset if we took Garner? Is there a case against him?

I'd prefer him to Sullivan but aside from that he looks a class above the other VFL players to me.

I just looked at the stats, Steph Martin looked like he did well. Could we? Should we?

He's got a lot of talent for sure, and had a great game today. I'm not sure if there's a knock on him but I tend to think there must be for Port to have let him go?

I'd be looking at him very seriously.

Played really well Stef. Nice to have him as an option if something happens to Tim.

Didn’t see any of the game, but for those who did can you compare the roles of Martin & Sweet?

Martin hadn’t played got a long time due to all sorts of injuries, but still racked up 21 touches, 5 marks and 25 hit outs… Sweet had 6 touches, 0 marks and 21 hit outs.

I know lots on here thinks Sweet is hard done by, but if he can’t out perform an ‘old man’ in the VFL team then he’s probably playing at the right level at this stage.

I don't think there is enough upside in Garner unless we have a specific role we think he can fill.

Sweet really struggles around the ground. I saw a bit of the game and Martin played well.

I think Garner is equal or way better than some of those we’ve elevated from vfl in last 5 years. Strikes me as a bit of a Scott plug and play type. His disposal accuracy and calmness under pressure strike me as better than normal in vfl.

I though Martin turned back the clock, clunking marks etc. He, Maclean and Cordy were standouts for me. And Hunter. No-one seemed to be on him. His kicking into F50 could be better though.

I have not given up on O’Brien or Schache but got a feeling latter may not be with us end of season. Pity as I think he is starting to show improvement in grit and versatility.

I’ve liked Garner too, but I’m also acutely aware of the gap between the levels and how it can show out on players like him. Like I really rated Jordan Boyd but he’s looked horrible when he’s played for Carlton.

I asked Minson once the difference in levels. His response was, " If I can get 30 disposals at VFL then that says it all"
