Re: Wildcard Round introduced in VFL finals shake-up
You lose a key player for a 6-week stretch...that's the difference between 7th and 10th...so I am totally onboard with it. Protect the teams at the top (I would go further, protect the top 5 in each conference and 6, 7, 8, 9 + 10 go into a wild-card pool) is great. The less 5-game series between crap teams, the better...1 game, all out, winner takes it - way more exciting way to do it.
I do understand your sentiment I guess but the reality is if you finish 7th you haven't really 'earned' anything so suck it up, here comes a sudden death round...
I just don't see how it's bad when those teams (in the wildcard/play-in round) aren't winning the title in any case. What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment

Wildcard round, more American crap. If it ever comes into the AFL I will just about chuck it in. Surely 22 games, now 23 is enough to sort the s#$t from the clay. If you aren't in the finals at the end of the home and away rounds, stiff biscuits.Comment
