Wouldn’t call picking a player up from VFL was clogging either , the advantage of picking up VFL players is they have matured and you can see they aren’t injury prone, they are also ready to step right in.
Some of our premiership players were VFL .. eg Picken, Dickson , Morris, Stringer.

Stringer was not drafted from VFL, but you can add Matty Boyd to the other 3 and I believe Shane Biggs had played VFL prior to being rookied at Sydney

To be honest has Stringer matured yet ? I stuffed that one up in more ways than one.

I think his preparing for contract year, he always performs then, so give him 18 months he will be in peak form

Sadly, his exactly the age profile we need atm to be in peak form.

no point talking about it I guess. Stringer is just another how long is a piece of string conversations, if he had his act together....etc... etc..

            VFL player summary: Round 15

            Jedd Busslinger

18 disposals, five marks, two tackles
Jedd was impactful in the air against Coburg, showcasing his aerial abilities as he continues to string together matches at VFL level. He is building well and learning lots from those more experienced players around him.

            Charlie Clarke

12 disposals, four tackles, three clearances, one goal
Charlie brings great energy, and is creative inside 50. He hit the scoreboard and will be keen to keep adding to his tally in the back-half of the VFL season.

            Sam Darcy

16 disposals, six marks, 12 hit-outs, three goals
Sam enjoyed an effective return, following four weeks on the sidelines with a jaw injury. His marking was strong, converted accurately in front of goal and won 12 hit-outs when relieving Jordon Sweet.

            Oskar Baker

23 disposals, five marks, four tackles
Oskar was one of the Bulldogs? biggest accumulators on Saturday, collecting 23 touches in tough conditions. He ran well and was important across the day.

            Josh Bruce

            13 disposals, four marks
Having someone of Josh?s calibre and experience around provides great insight for the younger players, not just in defence but at the opposite end of the ground too.

            Buku Khamis

11 disposals, three marks, nine hit-outs, four goals
Buku was fruitful in front of the big sticks, coming away with four majors from 11 disposals. His versatility is a great asset, as is his marking ability.

            Dom Bedendo

Seven disposals, one mark, one goal
Dom was quiet in his long-awaited return from a groin injury, but was to be expected given he has not played all year. The fact he was able to hit the scoreboard was a great sign.

            Robbie McComb

25 disposals, three marks, four clearances, one goal
Robbie enjoyed a solid outing at the weekend, with the stats to back it up. It was good to see him impact effectively.

            Arthur Jones

            Six disposals, one goal
Arthur continues to build on his game, and is learning every week. While he didn?t find the footy as much as he might?ve liked, his contribution is important.

            Luke Cleary

21 disposals, four marks, one tackle
Luke added another well-rounded performance to his campaign on Saturday. He looks settled in defence and knows how to use his strengths to his advantage.

            Cody Raak

11 disposals, five marks, three tackles, one goal
Cody enjoyed another important outing up forward, after spending a mix of his season inside 50 and also in defence. He hit the scoreboard once and took some strong marks.

            Jordon Sweet

10 disposals, five tackles, four clearances, 49 hit-outs
Jordon?s dominance in the ruck continues to shine through, winning 49 hit-outs in tricky conditions. He gives the mids first-use and follows this up with his tackling and clearance work.

The write up for Bruce doesn't sound to encouraging.

              Good to see Bedendo back.

Thought the same (about both points actually).

If you watch the replay you will consider the write up on Bruce to be generous.

When there is not match positive you can't put much in a positive write up.

Clarke's goal was pretty great if you watch the highlight package from the club site.

Jones really needs to find a way to get more of the pill. You can't be having 6 touches in the VFL against the bottom side if you want to return to the seniors.

If he can consistently get 15 touches he could be devastating. But yeah has to learn how to do it first.

I'm becoming convinced that it's more about how you train that how you play but I agree he needs to perform better.

He might not play this year but we could sneak him in for a game or two. Needs to back up with a couple of solid performances.
