It's your call - Who are you picking with our first pick?

We know we have pick 5 which should move to 6 so it's time for you to fill the role of Power and Milesi and make your selection?

I'm assuming Reid and Walter will be gone so who do believe we are going to pick?

I am going for Sanders purely off his highlight reel which was super impressive. Hopefully we will get a gun.

      McKercher for me if available.
      Sanders next.
      Duursma.
      Watson.

I've got a feeling we are keen on Watson but if may a matter of who is there.

        McKercher on paper is perfect.
Sanders highlights are surprisingly good given some of the negatives written about him.
Curtin could be the next Cripps with a bit of Bont class (not the next Bont) from the look of him but big question mark if he's a mid, key back or intercepting flanker. I think WCE make sure they get him.
Watson looks a goal machine but does he have the Pickett like desire to tackle?
Duursma I doubt reaches us so haven't even seen any highlights. If North don't take him Hawks seem super keen.

        So probably
        McKercher, Sanders, Watson?

I'm ready to back whoever we get TBH they all seem potential great players and I'm no expert

I went with McKercher - he is the type of player we need.

            McKercher in a heartbeat.
Curtin seems to be the type who could "fail" and "just" end up a very very good Brendan Goddard type defender so he's a very close second.
            Duursma 3rd for me.

Cards on the table; if it comes down between McKercher and Watson then I'm taking McKercher.

Re: It's your call - Who are you picking with our first pick?

Limited knowledge here, but I'd be happy with any.

Curtin looks impressive. He doesn't look 195cms, moves really well and if we are confident he can play mid I'd be all for taking him if available. Looks really capable 1-v-1, can intercept, rebound run, good skills.

Watson looks a special talent. Love his ability to take what is offered and create options for himself on the fly. It's a bit like Daniel/Pendlebury in that he is never rushed. A little weary about his height as it means he's limited in where he can play.

McKercher looks classy. Good pace, good left peg, good composure, follows the play well. Reminds me of Josh Kelly/Zach Merrett. What's his inside game/ball winning ability like?

Sanders looks like a JHF clone in the way he moves/looks. Can somebody run a DNA test!? He doesn't look as fleet of foot / classy as some of the others, but just as productive.

Duursma looks classy and clever, with good hands and excellent goal sense.

                  So, with so little knowledge, I'd go with;

                  1. McKercher
                  2. Curtin
                  3. Watson
                  4. Sanders
                  5. Duursma

Twomey says that North are going to take Durrsma and McKercher. Assuming that Reid goes first we’ll likely be left with one of Curtin, Watson or Sanders.

I don’t watch underage footy and don’t really care about guys until they’re in the AFL but from what I’ve seen (looking at their listed heights, weights and highlight videos) I want either Watson or Curtin. If we’re gonna trade up then take a swing for a change.

That would be the popular consensus.

I like the look of Sanders.

I think we will take Watson.

He's also said a trade for pick 1 is more likely after the trade period. I'd be surprised if North carry 2&3 to the draft and if they get Reid you'd think McKercher is less important than Duursma to them. I really think it could come down to if Hawks want Watson to fill a gap in their forward half for talent or McKercher who's the overall more highly rated pick but in an area they might feel they already have an abundance of young talent

I wouldn't see North's midfield an area of greatest concern and feel if they carry in 2 very early picks they need to look at fill the gaps they have elsewhere on the ground.

While I agree that a midfielder isn't a pressing need for them it's hard to pass over your talent list rankings with early picks.
If they cant secure pick one from the Eagles for Reid they should be all over picking up Duursma as a forward and Curtain as a mobile defender.

If North hold on to picks 2 and 3, I think they'd be absolutely nuts to pass on Curtin. They're desperate for a key back and have invested heavily in their midfield, get McKercher in to complement Wardlaw and Sheezel, but you surely can't go past the 12-year centre half back considering the rubbish state of their backline. He's played decent senior footy, he'll intercept, he'll run and carry and you can trust him with the ball. I think Duursma looks a nice player, but he might only ever be a half forward - you'd don't miss out on gun centre half back for that.

Pending availability, my preference would be:
                              McKercher
                              Curtin
                              Duursma
                              Watson
