    Who bids on Walter??

We have seen the playing around with the bidding system recently with clubs not bidding on players (including Nick Daicos) at the appropriate point of the draft.

Walter is surely either Pick 1 or Pick 2 in the draft. Who bids on him to make GCS pay full-price for their academy pick or just he just start sliding down the order to pick 4, 5 or even 6 before 'someone' makes a bid?

    Current order (as a reminder):

    1 - WCE
    2 - NM
3 - NM (Compo for McKay)
    4 - H
5 - WB (GC Trade for picks)
    6 - M (Freo Trade for Jackson)
7 - GWS (Richmond trade for Taranto)
    8 - G
    9 - E
    10 - A
11 - M (Via our pick swap with GC)
    12 - SS
    13 - STK
    14 - A
15 - NM (from Port for Horne Francis)
    16 - GWS
    17 - NM
    18 - NM

I think there's another couple of trades in there but I can't remember them!! Trade madness in the first round...
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Surely North use in their picks to bid. Be disappointing if they didn’t. Seems he’d be a clear top 2 or 3 in an open draft.
Wouldn’t be surprised if part of our trade for GC’s pick was a wink and a bid that we wouldn’t bid on any of their players.

Hopefully that includes our pick not being used on Croft (and passed on to whoever it would be traded to, in this case Melbourne)

There was an opposing view that maybe we were willing to include our future 1st on the condition that we'd bid on Gold Coast players at our pick in order to push our own pick down for the benefit of point in a Croft match. Who knows.

Is it 3 GCS players set for top 10?

That’d be pretty funny if we ended up bidding on all 3.

1 certain, 2 likely and 3 at a stretch. 3 is certainly possible.

              North.
I still think Walter should be no 1, but North desperately need a Nick Larkey foil so it's more 'needs' than 'bastardry' if they do bid.

We just have to bid on Ethan Read too. Luke Jackson-ish and a ridiculous athlete for 202cm. Push that Croft bid back by one pick.

                Isn't Rogers only 172cm?

He's the 'third' Sun and it seems weird there is so much hesitation about 170cm Watson as a small forward yet Rogers seems a consensus 'early teens' pick as a mid/forward at his height. Is he really that different a player to Sanchez who showed a few glimpses of talent at the champs?

I feel like he's a little overrated and their "4th" academy kid (Will Graham) is flying under the radar.

                  Re: Who bids on Walter??

Sanchez is 'clever' but I'm not sure 'WHAT' he is...

                  Best case is...Bailey Fritsch?? Maybe??

                  Am I crazy?

                  But that seems unlikely...

As for Rogers? No. He is not top 10.

In regards to the thread title, North should bid on him at pick 3.

Then they should just bid on him at pick 2. Whether North or West Coast end up with pick 2 that is certainly the general consensus for a Walter bid.

Thats probably how it will play out but from my perspective if I have picks 2 and 3 I'm wanting to let supporters know that we have the 2nd best player in the draft not the 3rd and 4th. I don't think it helps North in the slightest to squeeze out some extra points from the Suns.
