I think if you can get past the whole missing out on players before Junkley and Collins and felt we were always going to go with Dunkley then just he and Williams alone make it a solid draft, with Adcock being a decent enough back up. Adams would have been an inspired selection if he was able to stay fit.
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I remember reading all the comments that we Collins and Dunkley rated highly but were confident that we could get them later so did the 2 for 1 pick swap with Carlton.
Outside of Collins and the hail Mary with Goetz I think we did okay at that draft. It was a shame Adams couldn't settle with us.

We had a plan, big midfielder, key defenders and running players - we executed, hit a few and missed a few.
Dunkley was a fantastic selection in that range and probably one of the better picks in the draft from a mid range standpoint, has had a lot of success as a player.
Collins a bad miss, Adams played some good footy for us in the patches he was on the park.
Williams has been a very good get for where we landed him and Lynch just never quite got there after showing a number of very promising signs early.
Overall it’s a 3/5. It’s a pass just. Could’ve been a lot better.

Carlton got Charlie Curnow with that split pick. So we were either too smart by half with the funky pick split, or our recuiters and talent spotters made a poor error of judgement with regard to Collins.
Dunkley was a stud for us and remains an elite AFL footballer. Williams was an astute and excellent selection. Adams would have had a quality long term career if his body wasn't made out of tissue paper (the irony of a specimen being so fragile).

I don't know how true it is but I remember reading that we apparently thought Collins as a top 15 pick but believed we could get him a lot later. There was even talk that the reason why Weitering was the top pick that year was because Collins took the harder opponents.
Carlton got Weitering, McKay and Curnow that year and whilst it's taken a long time they now might be in the position to make the most of it.
Some excellent players selected that year.

The one I have wistful thoughts about from that draft was Brad Lynch.
He was good size, lighting quick and had just about the best skills we have had on both feet. His delivery was superb.
He and Bailey Williams running off half back and hitting each other up in the twos was something.
I was really hoping he would make it.
I feel for him too. Knocked back a three year deal from North to stay with us for two years and got delisted. Cost him another year to try to make it and the salary and everything else that comes with being g a league footballer. The flip side of the loyalty we fans demand.

Too true. And to Brad's credit he is still a fan and gets to games.Sometimes the boys spot him in the crowd and go to him, so must have been a good team mate.
