Clarke did one of those. Went for the speccy and in doing so spoilt Bedendo who would have kicked his 5th. I was annoyed by Clarke today. Giving away a senseless 50 as well. He is a footballer I think will one day kick 5 terrific goals and then the following week have a mixed bag like today. He does have some tricks. Can he out it together consistently is my question.

It might be the roll the smaller forwards are asked to play.

Disappointing A.Jones and Buss didn?t carry on with their good form against box hill 2 weeks ago. I thought they showed really good signs in that game.

Sounds like positives all round aside from those 2 and JOD.

Artie put in what I would a cameo. Didn't get a lot of it but did hit some beautiful passes. Missed 2 gettable goals. Probably could have had another when he side stepped through heavy traffic to have a chance to goal from 20m but went for the handpass. To the opposition. JUST KICK IT ARTIE!

Buss only had to look at Keath's game today to see what is needed. I'd like to see a bit more intensity.

Are we at panic stations with Buss yet or still too early?

Edit: for clarity I'm not talking about this year. I more mean if he's shown enough potential to warrant his 1st round selection. Is he looking up to that potential at all?

I don't think he's showing that he's warranted pick 13, but to be fair other than probably Josh Weddle, I'm not sure that any of the next 10-15 picks which would have been available to us have shown much at AFL level.

Might have been a weak draft after pick 12 though of course it's still early days.

Edit: for clarity I'm not talking about this year. I more mean if he's shown enough potential to warrant his 1st round selection. Is he looking up to that potential at all?

Way too early to be hitting the panic button. We need to accept that in most instances KP players are going to take a bit more time.
We've taken a longer term view with our investment in drafting KP players early

I was at the fence when that 50m was paid and it was ridiculously by the umpire. Clarke said oh my god. He had a few against him today. Running back towards goal the Werribee defenders were grabbing and scragging him constantly.
Also I think you will fine dom spoiled Clarke in that contest. Dom apologised.
For mine today. Darcy brilliant must play afl.
Scott was solid add some good pressure.
I don?t think baker was great tried to do to much most of the time.
Poults was very good.
Arty disappointing only had a handful of possessions but tries to do to much.
Clarke I thought was solid. Does a lot of hard running and blocking for the big boys and helped Darcy get a little separation a few times.
Keath was probably our best defender
Buss still needs time.

I was sitting with Carlton?s head recruiter and mentioned buss and Clarke and he said expect inconsistent performances both are still built like boys.
Positive practice match form from the vfl. Now hopefully we can smash the dees tomorrow.

Glad to hear Macrae played well. Now it is genuinely interesting whether he plays AFL next weekend.

Oh God no. I think he'll be fine. I was looking forward to seeing Buss, Keath & O'Donnell together today. I expected Buss would have been the 3rd tall or be on an intercept mission. Comparing him to Keath you can see the significant difference in body shape/strength. The difference a few pre-seasons and games will make. Buss has the chassis for it. Don't forget he missed last pre-season and about 1/2 the season overall from memory.

But had you seen his mark and 50m pass to Montgomerie that split the defence you would have seen what we paid for. Not many in our club would have made that kick or dared to try. Certainly none of our key defenders.

He's their head of list management and he was formally our head recruiter. Don't know about Carlton, but I expect they have a head recruiter position below him like we do with Dom Milesi under Sam Power.

He just has to be smarter than that. He looked a bit animated to me and right in front of the umpire.

I still think he spoilt Bedendo. He should have stayed down in my view.

Like I said in my earlier post I think he has some tricks. I don't mind a bit of passion in his play either. Hopefully he can learn quickly and put it together. He is certainly a lot more advanced than what he was this time last year.

Yeah not yet, Clarke and Buss are 2nd year players coming off their first preseason, and Jones is 3rd year but coming off no preseason. They all realistically should be showing great signs and pushing their case but I wouldn?t be expecting consistency yet - they?re about par for mine

I'm massively worried, I reckon he might be the least athletic top 15 pick in a long time. He is gonna need elite positioning, intercepting and kicking to make it at the top level.
