FINALS VENUES
For all matches from Wildcard Round through to the Preliminary Finals, the higher ranked team on the Smithy?s VFL ladder at the conclusion of the home and away season will have the option to host, subject to meeting venue infrastructure requirements.

The 2024 Smithy?s VFL Grand Final will be played at IKON Park on Sunday, September 22 unless two Queensland-based teams are competing.

In the event of two Queensland-based teams reaching the 2024 Smithy?s VFL Grand Final, the match will be played on Sunday, September 22 in Queensland.

Does anyone know where we can find a list of the qualified players for finals? Obviously anyone can play while the AFL team is alive, but who would be able to play if the AFL team gets eliminated.

Hopefully this isn't something we have to worry about, but just in case it is I'm interested to see who we'd have out there.

As I posted in the other thread I believe the requirement is play at least 6 VFL games and no more than 12 AFL games (although I have also seen someone claiming it's only 3 VFL games). Since the first week of VFL finals is during the AFL bye round open selection doesn't apply and players will need to meet the games qualifications. I believe sometimes they can make exceptions - it would be good if JJ was allowed to play - he's only played 9 AFL games but not sure if he's played any VFL games?

Appreciate your help there. So that would be Sanders, Coffield and potentially Harmes out from our VFL team against the Swans from what I can tell. For Brisbane, I think they'd just lose McKenna.

Sanders has played too many AFL games but Coffield and Harmes haven't. Not sure of VFL game numbers.

I did see someone mention that if the player was in the VFL in the final round that perhaps they can still play first week of finals if the AFL team is still alive, but I'm not sure if that's correct.

If you go onto the VFL (Smithys) App, you can view the number of games played for the VFL this year. The WB AFL app then could cross referenced for AFL games played this year.

Bolded players above meet the at least 6 VFL games and less than/equal to 12 AFL games as of last week's games (if this plays out as being the rules).

Borderline players who may qualify or not include Harmes, Freijah and Garcia.

Of course, the rule around being able to play VFL finals if the senior team is playing AFL finals will skew the numbers further.

It would be great if as many as 13-14 players could be part of a VFL premiership if the senior team falls short.

Looks like we can play anybody that didn't play v GWS according to this:

BRISBANE defender Jack Payne will play in the VFL on Saturday in the hope of proving his fitness to face Carlton the following week.

Payne has been sidelined with a foot injury that has kept him out of action since the Lions' round 18 win over Adelaide.

Despite playing just one VFL match this season, the full-back is eligible to play against Footscray in Saturday's qualifying final because the Lions are still alive in the AFL and Payne didn't play against Essendon in their most recent match.

Someone like Arty would also qualify through the VFL/AFL games rule.
