I think he cost us 3 games where he went off with Hamstring tightness in the first qtr and then played next week. Dont count that playing every game.

The guy that played every game last year? Just maybe you are missing something in his game that the MC value.Leave a comment:

In the last couple of years we have bucked the trend with drafting a couple of more players than we previously have and I wonder if it's been to get ahead of a more significant correction?
Last year we also traded back into the draft to secure Davidson and L.Kennedy later in the order.
We currently only have a 1st and 2nd rounder for next season so how many players could we drop off because our selections would be right at the back end of the draft.
There will likely be a couple of retirements and the maximum number of changes we could really go with is about 7 spots but more likely 6.
I can see some one year extensions to some of our players coming out of contract
As I understand it, and thanks to Zero Hanger, these are the players coming out of contract this year:
Oskar Baker- Likely delist
Marcus Bontempelli - Long term deal
Luke Cleary - Likely delist
Nicholas Coffield - Likely delist
Taylor Duryea - Likely retirement
Jason Johannisen - Likely retirement
Aurthur Jones - Possible delist or 1 year deal
Liam Jones - 1 year deal
Tom Liberatore - 1 year deal
Caleb Poulter - Possible delist or 1 year deal
Ed Richards - Long term deal
Anthony Scott - Likely delist or 1 year deal
Lachlan Smith - 2 year deal
Adam Treloar - 1 year deal
Laitham Vandermeer - 2 year deal
We would most likely have to make a decision on either Crossley or Brew as well.
There could be a case for the retention of of one or two out of A.Jones, Poulter or Scott perhaps even Coffield or Cleary.
We certainly cannot sensibly delist 9 or 10 players so there will likely be some 1 year extensions.
We will still have room for Butters.Leave a comment:

The purpose of this is not to be toxic. However, lists are turned over every year.
The Dogs have a very thin tail.
The following list of players, I doubt there are more than 1 or 2 still on the list in 2 years.
TRELOR - 1 Year deals, Inside Mid or nothing. Maybe some Sub thrown in. Injury will determine if that is 1 or 3
BUSS - Not sure, beyond the current deal. Probably 50/50 if signed Vs cut or traded
BAKER - End of his current deal, cut.
DURYEA - Final Year, Jaques in that role, probably before 2025 is out.
COFFIELD- End of his current deal, cut.
O'DONNEL - Not sure, beyond the current deal. Probably 50/50 if signed Vs cut
LIBBA - 1 Year deals, Inside Mid or nothing. Maybe some Sub thrown in. Concussion or knee degeneration will impact how long.
HARMES - End of his current deal, cut.
VANDEMEER - 50/50 - End of his current deal, re-sign or cut.
KHAMIS - End of his current deal, cut.
POULTER - End of his current deal, cut.
SCOTT - End of his current deal, cut.
MCNEIL - 50/50 - End of his current deal, re-sign or cut.
A JONES - End of his current deal, cut.
CLEARY End of his current deal, cut.
GARICA -Traded
JJ - End of his current deal, cut.
SMITH - End of his current deal, cut.
GARDNER - End of his current deal, cut.Leave a comment:

That's how I see it and why I listed Poulter and Jones as possible delists.Leave a comment:

Now that it's been laid out like that I agree, clearing 6 spots would be ideal with a potential for 7 so there will be some deals.Leave a comment:

This is a valuable list to work off an it explains why clubs including ours sometimes offer deals for players who might be more on the fringe of best 30.
You might think a player is not in serious contention for a senior spot but there is a limit to how many players can be moved on.
I can see why we will need to re-sign a small number of players that most of us would think are vulnerable.Leave a comment:

That's enough list turnover for one year. Based on that, Jones & Poulter probably get extensions.👍 3Leave a comment:

Rusty12 I'm all for cutting the list but realistically how are you replacing all those players?
Why are we trading Garcia after signing him on a new multi year deal at the end of 2024? If either party was hinting at that, wouldn't that have happened already?

Too much work and nobody here could even do it for one year let alone put in the years of dedication to get it going long term to deliver contextual value over time. We'll just have to fumble along the way we are.Leave a comment:
