APS School Football - Rd 1

    Scotch 16.7 103 def Caulfield 7.12 54
Scotch Best: L. Jones, J. Macmillan, B. Sinclair, M. Woods, Van den Broek
    Scotch Goals: Van den Broek 6, M. Woods 3, J. Sansom 2, L. Jones, S. Woodard, H. Thomas, C. McDonough, T. Hackett
Caulfield Best: Shiel, Karoly, Bugg, Poole, Lister
Caulfield Goals: McHarg 2, Pianto, Lowden, Reilly, Karoly, Shiel

It seems Liam had a good game for Scotch - on another forum it was posted that he pulled down a number of marks and was impressive. He should dominate after spending a pre season with the big boys (Brian).

Also in School footy news, apparently Tom Liberatore was BOG for St. Kevins in a big win for them.

Saw him up close the other night at the player sponsor function. He has a great build for a footballer and looks pretty impressive. Good to see him do well in the APS for Scotch

Young Libba is looking more and more like a dead cert to be f/s.

Would love to hear more about Walis over the season.

Funnily enough, apparently Wallis is considered the ‘gun’ out of the two – as highlighted by the recent article in The Age and also just from speaking to people who have watched them develop.

I’ve seen both close up only once and they play very different roles. Wallis is an athletic, attacking wingman with a piercing left foot. Libba is more of an inside player but seemed good in the air, both marking and spoiling. He actually reminds me of Sam Mitchell, the way he pivots and moves.

You would hope that both work hard on their speed and disposal over the next 18 months as that will ensure they are definite F/S – both look likely types though.

Two very good players for picks 20 and 40.

          I could live with that.

Let's start hiding them in a cave now so no clubs try to stooge us and make us pay over the odds.

Thanks for the update comrade. Any word on if Liam is going to play some VFL this year?
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

              Yeah he is.

I think the way the club have scheduled it is that he will play for both parties (Scotch & Williamstown) in blocks of games rather than being tossed all over the place to make it easier for his development. I guess he will play for Williamstown around school holidays time.

I saw him at the footy on the Sunday afternoon and he is certainly a good sized lad.

Jones appears to be recovering nicely from his ACL

I didn't think it was an ACL, he only missed a few months rather than a whole year. PCL or medial, perhaps?

Have heard some pretty good things about him in the media, anyone think he can become a decent AFL player?

I think you are right. For some reason I'd thought hed done an ACL but whilst there is nothing specific describing his knee injury an ACL doesn;t seem to fit with the timelines he is described as being injured, and the fact he was able to be tested at the draft camp - really looks an exciting prospect from the limited amount I've seen.
