APS School Football – Round 5

If anyone is interested in seeing some live football tomorrow, it might be worth making the trip to Scotch College to see Scotch take on St Kevins.

The game starts at 2pm and will feature Scotch’s Liam Jones, our young gun KPP, up against St Kevins’ midfield duo and future father/son selections Mitch Wallis and Tom Liberatore.

I probably would’ve made the trip if it weren’t for the better half’s birthday.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

I know, it’s not good enough.

I need some tips off you Mantis – how do you fit all that golf and footy in without the better half spitting the dummy?

Marry a golfer and footy lover.... gee that should be a pre requisite for marriage.

Good house training is essential. The trick is to tame her without breaking her spirit.

In other words, I have no idea.

Maybe exchange treats -- you get to watch the footy, she gets to -- oh, I don't know -- get an all day spa treatment.

Actually, I'm being flippant: my better-half is a gem. Last week she called me at work on Friday and said: "Hey, it's Aker's 300th tonight and the Dogs are playing Geelong. You want to stay in and watch it and I'll make pizza? Get some nice beer for yourself on the way back from work." She fell asleep on my lap halfway through the third quarter.

And her pizza (homemade dough and tomato/basil sauce, topped with chorizo and jamon iberico) was heavenly.

Re: APS School Football – Round 5

Well comrade, last weekend my wife and some of her work friends headed down to Wilson's Prom for a camping trip. I stayed at home as I had a big golf competition on the Saturday so I couldn't go.

I spent Friday night at the footy in a corporate box, watched a great game & had a heap of beers. Saturday was spent playing golf and drinking with the boys. I went out on the Saturday night into the city to catch a band a drink some more. Sunday was a write-off until she got home when I was nice and bubbly.

Tonight we are flying to Canberra to catch up with my sister and her hubby which somehow co-incides with the Doggies hitting town.

My only tip is to be a saint during the week so that you are cut some slack on the weekends.

And ledge not a chance, you need some time away. The only thing worse than playing golf with the wife would be playing with you.

Especially if the wife plays off a handicap of 2.

Worse than the wife playing with you would be the wife kicking your butt.

I should’ve bought her a tent for her birthday to encourage some weekend camping trips with the girls…

If she is that good she can play off the same tee's as me and then we will see how she goes.

Man if she plays off two she can play off from the carpark and still kick my butt.
