    Cash Converters

I see Oakley-Nicholls's mentor Phil Egan is shopping young JON around because he knows he won't be the club next season. Now it's easy to say that trading for unused, unloved or surplus players at other clubs is fraught with danger and misery but I think this year, especially with the consensus that the draft isn't deep, it's worth considering.

In keeping with the Cash Converters theme, is there any unloved or surplus players at other clubs that could be worth a once over?

I'll put my hand up and say that I wouldn't mind us having a look at JON.

    Any others?

Matt Maguire would fill a void at centre half back.

Is he out of favor because of form, injury or just that he has fallen behind in the pecking order at the strong Saints side?
I tend to think it's a combination of all three and for what it's worth the couple of times I have seen him this year he really hasn't impressed at all.

We've got guys in Stack and Hill who play the same role as JON - I'd rather develop them and use a pick in the draft than go after a Richmond reject.

Maybe Salopek from Port Adelaide? He's been in and out of the side throughout the year and could be on the outer.

I'm concerned about the lack of polish across the ground for us currently - we really have too many guys who just blaze away and make stupid decisions (Cooney, Griffen, Aker, Hargrave, Hahn, Eagleton etc).

If we do look at players from other clubs, the main priority has to be kicking skills and decision making.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

I still think that teams like Carlton & Hawthorn will have a huge crack at Maguire, maybe even the Swans, could be still getting over his injuries, with a decent enough pre season, and a change of enviroment could be what he needs.

Ashley Hansen for me. Add him at CHF and Hall at FF(both premiership forwards) and our forward line finally has some structure and our smaller players can play in their right positions. He shouldn't cost much more than a second round draft pick.

We tried to get Ash last year didn't we? but at the end, he decided to re-sign with WC.

He can't get a game for them now and has dropped down the pecking order further. If he was smart he would see an opportunity at our club that he will never get with the Eagles. Hansen is a CHF and by the looks of things yesterday Kennedy now owns that spot.

I hope he does, i was all for getting him last year, Hansen at chf, Hall at ff with Murph playing on a flank, Higgins, Aker & Johnno roaming around, all of a sudden, we have a forward line.

Beats bombing it long to Hill and Stack.

                      Yes. Barry Hall.
Maybe. Ash Hansen, if the price is low.
                      No. O-Niks.
Maybe. Colin Sylvia if Melbourne takes a hard line with him and offers him around.
No. Mitch Thorpe on good advice.
                      No. Boyle.
                      No. Drum, see Thorpe.
                      Maybe. J. Schultz
I like Trent Potential but can't see him being offered at all, let alone with a 'Cashies' price tag.
No. Travis Johnstone, surely Brisbane will try to re-coup some of thier loss...
Maybe. Salopek. Not sure he will be offered though.
Yes. Cameron Cloke. Carlton have three rucks ahead of him. With Skip and Wight gone, Roughy and Shaw no up to it next year, an insurance policy player might be good for a season. Must be cheap!
No. McGuire. Think he is overrated.
Maybe. Beau Dowler. Got some AFL games this year, dunno.
Maybe. Rusling, has a terrible history of injury though.
Maybe. Ben Reid. Where is he at?

Not too sure there is much prospect of a hopeful recycle job other than Hall, who is only a 1/2year proposition.

Peake from Freo. I love his pace and ability to run and carry. I think he has heaps of room for improvement and would could really thrive in a winning environment.

I promise I am not just posting this because Freo are playing at the moment, I was going to post it earlier but didn't think he fitted the vibe of the thread.

Whats the story with Cleve Hughes, why he isn't getting a game with the Tigers, 193cm tall forward, alot of supporters wanted him in that draft because he was tall, we selected some kid called Higgins.

He looks to be a very poor option and I doubt a change of teams would find any improvement in him.

The great reason internet posters don't have say at draft time

From a far, i don't think his form has been up to scratch.
