    The Rookies, make your call.

The season is winding up, i might be so bold as to say if our rookie listed players haven't secured a ticket for 2010, they may not ever. On this assumption i would love for the regular willy watchers to call it. Who stays on as a rookie or gets elevated, who goes and comes back re-rookied, who goes to suburban footy?

    1st year:

    Picken: Elevated, no brainer.
    Daniels:
    Ogle:

    2nd year:

    Shaw:
    Mulligan:
    White:

    1st year:
    Picken: Obviously elevated.
Daniels: Haven't seen much of him at all but reports seem OK. Looks like he might get a 2nd year.
Ogle: No idea. Don't interstate rookies get 2 year contracts? Maybe it's different for the NSW scholarship kids.

    2nd year:
Shaw: I like what I have seen of him for Willy. Because it is his 2nd year, we will have to re-draft if we want to keep him. Promote/re-rookie for me.
    Mulligan: No idea.
White: No idea but sounds like he might be in trouble.

      Picken - elevated
Daniels - retain as 2nd year rookie
Ogle - retain as 2nd year rookie

      Shaw - delist, re-rookie
      Mulligan - elevated
      White - delist

Mulligan is probably the most contentious but he's a great size and can play as a genuine full back. Also, if he doesn't come on as expected, we'll get some value out of him if we off load him to the Gold Coast.

I bow down to your superior judgement. Not sure there many better judges and followers of Williamstown's reserves than your good self.

          Cheers.

I think Ogle gets a minimum two years, which is probably fair considering how far back he is coming from.

White just hasn't done enough in his 2 years and he's a the type of player that can be easily replaced. It's a shame, as from all reports he is a ripping young man and is currently living with Cordy and Roughead.

Where do you see Ogle Comrade. I just can't see him making the grade, and with the potential of another raw NSW rookie in Jones, are we clogging up rookie spots unnecessarily?

            EDIT: You just answered this...

I think we have to keep Ogle on for two years.

Thanks Rocco. That somewhat concerns me if we have two NSW rookies who are coming of scratch.

If we keep Shaw we'd probably delist Skipper. Tough situation really, considering the brief moments I saw Roughead I thought there was something we could really work with there but he wont be ready next year as back-up to Hudson/Minson by himself.

Do posters know that we cannot re rookie players that have been on the rookie list for two years.

We have to either elevate to senior list, or delist and re-rookie if they are not picked up by another club.

That's what I suggested we do with Shaw.

I'll bite. Mulligan hasn't been good enough to get 1 senior game for Williamstown in 2 seasons and has missed a bit of football with injuries and yet gets a promotion?
                          Why not delist and re-rookie?

I'm led to believe that he's quite highly rated at Whitten Oval, despite missing a lot of football through injury.

His name was also being thrown around pre-Draft as a definite late round pick but he slid for whatever reason, so if we delist him there is a risk that he'll be picked up in the PSD before we get a chance to re-rookie him.

Add to the fact that Clayton obviously rates him (he wouldn't have drafted him otherwise), so if he doesn't come on as expected, we might get some trade value out of him by keeping him on the list.

Plus, I've liked what I've seen of him.

As always Comrade, i'm happy to go with your opinion. Does that leave us overall with:

                              Presumably obvious Outs:

Skipper, Wight, O'Shea, White (r), Shaw (r), poss - Eagleton (ret) and Welsh (ret)

                              which equates to:

3 ND selections (with Picken and Mulligan being elevated to take 2 spots) and 4 rookie spots, possibly getting Shaw back if he is left.

I think we should be looking at possibly 4 ND selections and a 5th or PSD selection if needed for Hall. That means the need to de-list another 2 players. Assuming this logic is correct, who are the two players that free up some spaces (either de-listed, walk out or are traded)?
