He started off well and took a ripping mark early and also kicked the first goal (I think) but the conditions didn't suit his game and kicking was a bit off.

Cheers mate, so he floated around a bit instead of playing key defence?

Pretty much played in defence and the goal was because he followed his opponent and got the ball within range.

I thought he had a solid outing and took mark of the day deep in defence. He gave some good rebound off the half back line and was prepared to work hard and provide a marking option when Willy were trying the switch across the middle. I thought his intensity and desire to compete was also ok - which is a good sign.

He also kicked a nice long goal from a set shot.

It's hard to judge his disposal as the wind made kicking an absolute crap shoot.

Tim Callan - Did he play? How did he go?

I am very keen to get him into the team for next weeks game to help us combat Collingwood's smallish forwardline.

He played and got through unscathed, playing 80-85% game time.

He was solid without doing anything spectacular. He certainly worked hard to run off his man and provide a chop out for his teammate and never shirked an issue (as always).

Because the conditions were so crap, it's hard to judge his disposal - he put a few out on the full, but he wasn't Robinson Crusoe.

I'm confident that he could come in and do a job next week, but I'm also a wrap for Tiller who can also play small if required.

I see Callan as a good match-up for Davis and for this match-up only I would like to see him play.

Kind of like the job he did on Aaron Davey last year? It'd be nice if Davis goes to the bench and refuses to go back on after being tormented by Timmy.

Casey kicked a goal in the 33rd minute of the last to sink Williamstown – what should’ve been a great game between two top sides was reduced to a slog fest with an innumerous amount of out on the fulls and thrown ins caused by the conditions at Casey.

Grant: Conditions didn’t suit and he had a dirty day. Suprisingly, he had a major case of the fumbles, dropping a simple chest mark that cost Willy a crucial goal into the wind and just couldn’t get into the game. Again, he was used high up the ground which, in my opinion, just doesn’t suit his game or his fitness level. Time and again, Willy would win possession kicking into the wind and Grant (as well as his fellow forwards) was so high up the ground that the midfielders would have to stop and prop, waiting someone to create an option – very frustrating.

He’s a natural forward, so leave him there.

Let’s hope he can be a contributor over the next few weeks and then Daveron rides him all summer long.

Roughead: Had a quiet game but competed well in the ruck contests, I thought. Skipper did the bulk of the work (and was brilliant) so Roughy had limited game time. Not great conditions for a big man.

Boumann: I thought he was in the best 8-10 for Willy, all bias aside . He took some nice marks by reading the play well, and I can’t recall him being beaten in a contest (to be fair, it wasn’t a good day for big forwards).

It was a horrible day for kicking so I thought he played within his limits, using creative handballs to release his teammates from congestion. He got good praise from Gotch for his ability to compete. At the moment he plays like a third tall/flanker, but hopefully with some added bulk he can develop into a genuine key defender, as he’s showing some good signs.

White: Wasn’t prominent, and will probably be one to make way next week for Reid and Addison with Cross and/or Griff coming back to the Bulldogs. He’s pacy and is well balanced, but just doesn’t get to enough contests.

O’Keefe: Had a mountain of possessions, and was generally clean in the conditions. Casey gave him a free run and there were plenty of times where he’d lurk in the middle of the ground waiting for a turn over. He was pretty hard at it and was in the best couple for Willy. His lack of pace was noticeable on a few occasions, where he just couldn’t pressure the ball carrier enough.

Tiller: Was solid all day and took some important marks in the defensive 50. Made an absolute howler when he played on from full back, kicked straight into the man and coughed up an easy goal. He ran the game out with no concern, so he should be right to go if required.

                              Everitt:
As mentioned previously, I thought his intensity was up which is a good sign. He ran pretty hard through the middle of the ground and made himself useful up forward. I can’t comment on his kicking as the wind made it impossible to hit up targets in most situations. It just needs to click mentally for Dre, as he has the tools to become a very good player.

Callan: Battled hard and got through unscathed, so he could put his hand up for selection against the pies.

Stack: Not a great game from Brennan, but he had a few flashes of brilliance, including a ripping goal from outside 50 where he pick pocketed the ball from a pack of players and just bombed it. He was tentative in a few marking contests where he should’ve gone harder than he did, which is disappointing. He needs to make sure he doesn’t drop off now, as he could be needed in finals.

Wood: I thought he was BOG in the first half, but he faded slightly in the second. His marking was great in the conditions, and he was maniacal at the contest, winning balls that he had no right to.

He needs to work on his general disposal over summer, and I’d partner him up with Aker to teach him some of the subtleties of the game, as at the moment his is all crash and bash and I’d like him to add some polish. Good signs, though.

Skipper: Played an epic game. His tap work was good, he worked like a Trojan around the ground and his ability to take contested marks was a standout. By the end of the game he must have been out on his feet, but he was like a prize fighter, refusing to go down for the count.

I’ve really enjoyed watching Skip play this year and he didn’t disappoint yesterday.

Thanks for the excellent report comrade. Besides getting the 'bullshit filter' out with the Boumann report the write-ups have been great.

Great to read that Skip hasn't dropped the bundle and continues to press his case. He hasn't seen senior action for what must seem like an eternity (in reality it is), but he keeps giving his all which is a credit to the individual.

It seems like the development coaches will have a lot of work to do over the summer so it will be interesting to see how they went come the start of the 2010 season.
