Quick midfielder whose decision-making and clean hands in traffic are his strengths. Reads the game well and has strong defensive skills. South Australian U18 representative in 2009.
It's likely that at least one or two of the above guys will be at our club next year - who's a chance to be running around in the red, white and blue?

I've predominantely looked at the small mids and my two favourites are Christiensen and Jetta (based on what MJP has said). Both seem quick and skilled, which is the type we need.

A key defender wouldn't hurt, but we would have to use our first pick to get an okay one. Comrade, any standouts from that particular group?

If we're looking at key defenders, you'd hope Talia slips through as he's the clear standout from all reports. I'd rather we look at best available for our first pick, which will likely be a midfielder.

I recently re-watched the Vic Metro vs South Australia game and was very impressed with two midfield types:

          1. Jordan Gysberts. A very smooth mover - extremely clean and well balanced, and seems to handle himself well in traffic. Reminds me very much of Pendlebury.

          2. Luke Tapscott. Built like a bull and good overhead, has a cannon of a right leg. Reminds me of Shannon Hurn.

If we're looking at midfielders we could do worse than the above those two. My only concern is that they're both not overly pacy, which is something we lack, but they're probably quick enough.

Thanks for that. From the sounds of it, these two could slip in very nicely.

It's hard not to get excited about adding some young up and coming talent to the list later in the year.

Once we work out which players are moving on we might have a better idea of what players we should target.

Draft night is shaping up as a beauty - last semi-uncompromised, no F/S selection to take the suspense out of our all important pick and a live broadcast to jazz the whole thing up.

                  Aaron Black (Peel Thunder, WA)
                  Height: 193cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 29/11/90
                  Recruited from: Kingsley
Athletic key forward whose excellent hands are a feature. Agility and awareness are also strengths. Western Australia U18 representative in 2009.

The bits in bold from the earlier post are WRONG.
                  Plus, he is 196cm.

You would think the official AFL website would be slightly more competent and not confuse Aaron Black (Peel Thunder forward) with Aaron Black (West Perth midfielder)!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

With draft camp commencing on Monday, it'll be interesting to see who has some stand out results that may boost them on draft day.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Rohan tests in the 3km trial, in particular - he's had a reasonably quiet finish to the TAC Cup season, and I'm still hopeful he might slide to our first pick.

I think that's pretty wishful thinking

A number of the SA players won't be involved due to Grand Final commitments, but will take part in the State Screening on the 10th of October.

Jack Trengove, Alex Carey, Josh Giddings, Byron Sumner and Derick Wanganeen will not be attending.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I really liked Alex Carey but he looked a bit slow. I was looking forward to seeing his DC results.

Only for the 15th time, I feel compelled to remind everyone that Alex barracks for the Bulldogs.

(and he lives around the corner from me)

NB i presume the guys from SA who can't make the national screening will then attend the state based screening the week after for the less then elite ones.
