2009 Willi Players: Any draft potential?

Picken was a good pick up and when they gulls are happy to put up the cash, then we need to have a good look. To the regular watchers of the ones and magoos, who is (a) a likely target and (b) who would you like to se given a rookie spot?

Pat Rose is in the box seat, but didn't do himself any favours with a lacklustre finals series.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Will he last until pick 14 in the rookie draft?

Hard to say but we knew in advance that Picken was heading our way and it happened.
We can't control what other clubs might do so there is a risk.

I will re-phrase the question. Will he last until 14 or 30? Do we need to use our first on him, or his he a fair prospect of being in the top 30 rookies with his season and Willi putting up the cash?

If the Bulldogs want him, Willy will put up the cash and we'll take him with our second pick in the rookie draft - same scenario as Picken.

I do rate Rose's on field ability - his hands are fantastic for a small forward and he has 'tricks'. I've heard whispers about his off-field demeanor but I'm sure it's nothing that Barry won't sort out

Aker mentioned on BTG that in team meetings he can imagine the guys being less vocal in team meetings, "yes Barry, sorry Barry, ok Barry" and no-one will want to finish last in trials or get punishments if it's 60 seconds in the ring with Barry!

How bad would that be for us if at work if you didn't meet you bosses expectation's and he said, "that's it, get in the ring for 60 seconds with Barry Hall". I think i'd resign on the spot!!!

So I take it a part from Rose there are no other genuine contenders from Willi?

If not, have any opposition VFL players grabbed your attention?

I really like Sam Dwyer from Port Melbourne - a real gut runner with decent foot skills.

Kicked a few nice goals in the finals too.

Yep. We must remember that Williamstown are willing to pay for a rookie that isn't currently on their list. I am sure they would love to recruit someone like Sam Dwyer.

                          That would be interesting.

Recruit a player from their most hated enemy.

Get a Port player for the Bulldogs so he leaves port and has to play with Williamstown.

Gee in Rocko Jones in your avatar it looks like Hall could be Cooneys older brother or father.

It would make a lot of sense. It is easier to retain Pat Rose than recruit Dwyer.
