Bulldog Champ joins Jets coaching panel

Libba (of the senior variety) joins the Western Jets as an assistant - hopefully he can impart some good old fashioned footballing wisdom on the young athletic prima donna's.

Bulldogs Champ joins Jets coaching panel

Western Bulldogs champion Tony Liberatore will join the Western Jets coaching panel in 2010 as an assistant coach. Tony will take on the role of midfield coach and comes to the club with an impressive playing and coaching resume.

Tony played 283 games for the Western Bulldogs between 1986 and 2002. His acomplishments include winning the 1984 Morrish Medal for best player in the U19 competition, the Charlie Sutton medal in 1991 for the Bulldogs best and fairest, being named on the interchange bench in the Bulldogs team of the century and the 1990 Brownlow Medal.

After retiring in 2002 Tony went straight into coaching where he coached the Box Hill Hawks into a grand final in the VFL against Williamstown. From 2004-2007 Tony was an assistant coach at Carlton before taking up the head coaching position at the Sunbury Lions in the BFL in 2008. This season saw Tony take up a coaching position in the WRFL with West Footscray.

The club is excited to have Tony on board and are looking forward to using his wealth of experience and knowledge for the upcoming 2010 season.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Good luck to him. I've seen him at a few TAC games and he hasn't lost his passion.

It is based on your place of residency and what zone it falls in.

Not necessarily. Wallis and Libertore school football comes first and they didn't play all games this year.

Ah yes that's true. I feel a bit uncomfortable about Libba and Wallis having to play in the school competition when they are already at the necessary standard and beyond of the TAC cup. Still, I guess if every private school kid is forced to play in the school competition then it will still be of a good standard.

Jack Watts, Luke Ball and Xavier Ellis all played school footy the year after being drafted.

                        Libba should do well

I thought he was a good coaching prospect when he was the Box Hill hawks VFL coach. I remember seeing a few huddles and being impressed. Hes accumulated more experience since then having been involved with the Carlton setup, plus coached a few of his own teams

Does this mean he finally hangs the boots up?
