Dissapointed a bit not to see a certain name on their, but that is going to be one super impressive team.

I've seen Toy and Mitchell in living colour and they were super, super impressive. Toy in particular, who I rate higher than Scully, and will be one of the marquee players in the comp in a few years, make no mistake about it.

Mitchell too will be a gun CHF. Great hands and quick off the mark. Was completely dominant in all three of the games I saw him in.

Weller, Flanagan and Matera have all come with huge wraps on them too, and we all know about the Karmichael Hunt situation. I'm excited to see how it all pans out, but a bit frightened, as I think this is a team that will do quite a bit of damage in the coming years.

McKenze has been talked about a fair bit on this forum and is one to keep an eye on. Fairly tall, athletic lad with good skills, maybe just doesnt have the performances on the board as of yet?
Good to see another St Pauls boy make it to the big time as well

So will all these guys be on their list when they enter the comp or do they get to prune it prior to that?

Bloody hell. Brisbane three-peat all over again.

It's up to the club I suppose but most would be there.

I know the gold coast can trade picks, I guess they can also trade players?

Wonder if the Gold Coast will recruit 'Goose' Maguire to play with Maverick Weller?

Goose is a bit too slow to be a 'wingman'

Re: The Gold Coast list taking shape

I just wanted to put out a hypothetical question as I don't fully understand the GC concessions etc.

Firstly, I understand GC don't have the right to bid on our F/S selections in Wallis & Liberatore next year. As usual however other clubs have the ability to nominate a a player in a particular round and therefore we would have to use our pick in that given round to draft the player.

My hypothetical is this, let's say we lose Cooney to GC and as such the AFL Commission deem Pick 3 & 10 reasonable compensation. If a club than nominates Wallis for $example of being worthy of a 1st round pick, would we have to use the pick 3 we received on Wallis or would our original pick which is hopefully around 16 be the one we use?

Fairly complicated I understand however both young boys are likely to go through this process and with the way it is setup there is a good chance we may lose a quality player to GC, I just wanted to get a good understanding of how this would potentially work.

My understanding is that we have to use natural picks for father son selections not ones acquired through compensation or other trades.

Re: The Gold Coast list taking shape

I'm sure TCD can clarify, but F/S bidding is done prior to trade week commencing and only takes in to account the picks you have at that time.

Using the Cooney example, if at the conclusion of the season our first pick is 24 and a team (who finished below us) bids their first pick for Wallis, we must use that pick to secure him - effectively it's off the trade table. If Cooney leaves, we're free to use whatever picks we secure in the draft.

I'm confident that's correct, but hopefully TCD and co can confirm.
