    Bulldog Draft Countdown

In our own phantom draft, dogs_r_barking selected:

    #15 - Talia
    #31 - Reid
    #63 - Duryea

With just a couple of weeks to go I thought it might be a bit of fun to see who everyone thinks we might land with the same selections?

Is the anyone bold and brave enough to put in their nominations early?

          Re: Bulldog Draft Countdown

          This is my wish list:

          15. Talia (or Jetta)

          31. Bartlett (or McMillan-Pittard)

          63. Daw

If we somehow got the pacy Jetta at pick 15, I'd be happy to go with McMillan-Pittard as a replacement for Gilbee/Shaggy in a few years.

This is what I think may happen:

          15. Carlisle

          31. McMillan-Pittard

          63. Tighe

I'm not rapt with the above list so hopefully I'm way off. I've made it clear before that I'm not a huge fan of Carlisle, and whilst McMillan-Pittard is a good player and probably a bargain at our second pick, I still think we need to introduce some genuine pace onto our list.

It'll be very interesting come draft day - can't wait.

I think we need a KPD with either 15 or 31. I think Talia will be gone by 15, and Carlisle perhaps not worth that pick. That being the case I think we will go best available at 15 with perhaps Sheppard then Reid at 31. Then the best of the remaining quick small forwards at 63, perhaps Wanganeen, and 79 I would use on an honest hardworking mid such as Geary that is not going to fail from lack of application

              15. Brad Sheppard
              31. Sam Reid
              63. Derick Wanganeen
              79. Kallen Geary
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

That would be my biggest nightmare.

Talia or Melksham would be my wish but both are unlikely. I would rather McMillian-Pittard than Sheppard.

Despite our recent drafting, I would still prefer to take a tall with our first pick but it doesn't look like there will be any worth it.

We just have enough young talls on our list now, there's none available later on that seem likely to make it and with our first available pick next year being about pick 60, I doubt we will get any then either.

Barry (and others I guess) do you really see Eade going after someone like Thorp or Hooper? I think they have a bait to offer, especially with the expansion teams diluting the talent pool but I know Eade has a "no dickhead policy" and both seem to well and truly fit into the category.

Also, I thought we had 4 picks. Have I miscounted or are you guys just going up to 3 picks.

I reckon he'll at least talk with Thorp & get a feel for things.

I suppose I was looking at things from the perspective of, is Thorp better than an unknown pick 61 (really a pick in the 70's with all the 17 y.o.'s taken by GC17)?

Out: O'Keefe, Welsh, Skipper, Wight, O'Shea & Lynch.
                    In: Hall, Picken & Mulligan.

                    I make that 3 picks.

Yep, totally agree with that logic.

Eagleton makes it four (veterans list or no contract).

                        I don't think so.
Doesn't the veterans list have little to do with the National or Preseason draft just the rookie draft?
For every veteran you have it takes a rookie spot?

Putting Eagleton on our veterans list basically means we will have an extra National or PSD pick and one less rookie list spot.

I'd be disappointed if they didn't get Thorp in for a chat, given he is exactly what the list needs.

This Thorp is a d_head stuff might be a bit of a cop out, its not like Thorp wasn't surrounded by other dills at Hawthorn
