DOG GOD's Phantom Draft 1st RD

I didnt want to get into the whole BFooty debate regarding Phantom Drafts where it normally turns into name calling so thought i would post what i think the top 17 might be. Feel free to comment or leave your own top 17.

    RD 1
    1. melb - Tom Scully - will be a demon hands down
    2. melb - Jack Trengrove - as above
    3. rich - Dustin Martin - seems to have all the goods for the tigers
    4. freo - Anthony Morabito - hmm will they pass on him? I think not
    5. nm - Ben Cunnington - typical robust player that Scott will LOVE

This is where it could get interesting

    6. syd - Gary Rohan - mid / fwd with great speed (Talia could also go here)
    7. wc - Lewis Jetta - been linked to them...this pick could decide what comes
    8. port - John Butcher - surely a given if he is still available
    9. port - Daniel Talia - ports best chance to sure up their book ends for years to come
    10. ess - Kane Lucas - either lucas or melksham here
    11. melb - Jake Carlisle - after 2 mids they go KPP who can play fwd and back
    12. carl - Aaron Black - the FF they need after showing fev the door
    13. adel - Jaspar Mcmillian - Pittard - running hb the crows will be looking for for when goodwin and mcleaod call it quits
    14. syd - Jake Melksham - best mid available here
    15. wbull - Andrew Moore - hf/hb versatile player. What the dogs look for
    16. port - Luke Tapscott - robust with booming kick. Fits ports needs
    17. geel - Nathan Vardy / Callum Bartlett - depends whether they can get a ruckman with their 2nd pick.
I will never see #16 the same!!

    Nice work DG.

As far as Port selecting a tall defender, I'm not convinced they'll go that way. They do have Jackson Trengove (who was rated probably inside the top 5 last year before his serious hamstring injury) who has now overcome his injury problems and will play at either FB or CHB.

Given both Burgoyne's have left I think they'll want some greater certainty as well as run and carry with one of #8 or #9. If they go tall for both selections I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft 2 forwards.

Such an even and interesting draft...I might have a crack in the next day or two once a bit more information comes out
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Agreed with Chaplain and Carlisle also in the defensive mix I think they'll definitely take a midfielder with at least one of their first two picks, and probably 2 of their 3 inside 16.

Emma Quayle seems fairly confident Port will pick up Melksham with either 8 or 9.

Makes a lot of sense too because he's the type of midfielder they need. He's great at the clearances (Covers the loss of Burgoyne) and is very agile and evasive in the packs. Capable of playing inside and out too.

I wouldn't be surprised if Melksham went even earlier. Sydney @ 6 and West Coast @ 7 might be a chance. Rohan is very talented but there's a bit of doubt hanging over his head. Probably doesn't find enough of the ball and is a bit sporadic. A midfielder that can play the inside and outside game appeals to most clubs and both Sydney and West Coast probably need it.

Swap Sheppard and Moore and you're close.

I don't know about Stevens, Essendon could pick anyone.
